I spoke to a source this morning with close knowledge of Emoni Bates' exit from Memphis. They stated that Bates (along with Tyler Harris) were told by Memphis coach Penny Hardaway that they can "pack their stuff and go," based on their behaviors and actions while with the program.

Regarding Bates, specifically, he apparently bad mouthed Hardaway to Memphis recruits behind his back, which appeared to be final straw for Hardaway.

Confirms what I was getting after reading Martin's article awhile back.

I find it hard to believe that Harris would choose to return, only to not be anything less than pumped about being here. He knew what he was coming into.

If true, however, buh-bye.

Clearly everyone has their views and opinions on the Harris matter. Mine is I find it hard to believe that Penny mistreated Harris in any way at all. Plenty of evidence to support the opposite actually. Such as allowing him to return after he left the first time. Giving Harris the complete green light to shoot whenever and wherever he wanted. Many times his shot selection was awful. And yet Penny didn’t yank him out. Penny was always highly complimentary of Harris and stated many times that he had confidence in him and praised his ability to take and make tough deep threes. I’m confident Harris didn’t like his minutes situation. Now everyone would agree that Kendric Davis is head and shoulders better at all aspects of the game. If Penny doesn’t want to deal with attitudes and headaches, I’m good with him telling a player he’s got to go. This is big time college hoops. Penny deserves the benefit of any doubt. He’s a class act and if he wants someone gone, I’m good with it.

Weird stuff. But if that is the case then they needed to be kicked to the curb.

He was just speaking his version of the facts. Not sure why Hardaway would have an issue with that. It's fair.

Any coach would have kicked him off the team. If that's what truely happened, I'm glad that he did.

Lol...

That is completely different situation...And I don't see Nolley in that list. Finally even if Nolley was...Wouldn't that make his statement more factual. I thought your take was Everything wasn't being centered around him...That is why he left.

Again...DEFEND, DEFEND, DEFEND

Even when defense is not necessary.

Why do you try so hard to find/create/interpret/infer issues with Penny? Honest question. I don't recall you applying the same malice to anyone else, outside US politics.

How am I inferring issues...

Where do you see me inferring issues?

I said Nolleys comment was fair because he said he felt unwanted...I even said that was his perspective.

Then he had to defend when there was nothing to defend against.

I say we need more shooting on the roster...Then that is taking as a slight that needs to be defended against.

I even defend Penny in the Emoni thread...Everything is not black and white. People see what they want to see I guess.

College sports is ruined. It has become just like professional sports where your team changes every year. Hard to stay a true fan.

to be honest nobody looks good in those unis...

I wish Tyler the best. i have no idea what made him leave, but he's a Memphis kid who wanted to come an committed out of high school, and cared enough to walk on his senior year. the young man is a graduate of the U of M, and that my friends makes him a Tiger forever, regardless of where he plays this year.

Thanks Tyler, good luck to you, i hope you get a standing ovation and score 40 in the Forum next year as your team loses by 2.

There’s more consistency in professional sports. Your primary players whom the team is built around stays from 4-8 years with the same team. So no, this is way worse than professional sports IMO
