Is every player out to get him?

If this was any other previous Tiger coach most of you would be questioning his fitness to be the coach.

I’m sorry Pastner is no longer our coach

The members of this board have got to make up their minds one way or the other.

When he was out and someone mentioned the team played better without him the hand of God came crashing down on that poster.

How dare they make a statement about a Tiger player.

When he left and went home he was still protected from any negative comments.

It was unforgivable to say anything about a player and it is his life we had no business commenting.

So suddenly because he is supposedly on the outs with Penny he is now fair game.

At least be consistent.

I was one of the few that looked at the team with him and without him and thought he was a problem early on.

But saying so was frowned upon until according to a third party, Penny said the same thing.

I personally do not care what your position is on Bates either pro or con.

But enough of the hypocrisy that is being exhibited on the page.

Pick a position and stick with it instead of changing it to be in line with what certain others believe at the time.

I see. Typically when someone mentions JR they are referring to Jayden. Which is why I asked.

Lol, I never made any public statements on Emoni, just watched/waited. But go ahead and believe your conspiracy theories.

Well... I criticized him back when he was still on the team. As soon as I saw him cough up the ball a couple times in traffic, I said he's nothing special.

More than likely, JH reached out to PH to discuss the circumstances.....Very telling when a "major" talent is NOT welcomed in his own/home state 05-nono
Let the rivalry begin again

I hope that didn't happen. Would be highly hypocritical to tell the kid to take a hike because you believe he was bad mouthing you to other recruits. Then turn around and bad mouth him to other coaches.

I wouldn’t consider getting honest but negative input from another coach “bad mouthing”, if that’s what happened. Coaches need cred too. And I remember him getting beat up pretty good on here. We’d beat up on Santa Claus if he put on a Memphis uniform.

Interesting. Except that given how Emoni sabotaged the team, I don't see any way that Penny comes out looking bad-except possibly for projecting him as a 6-9 point guard.

Good luck to the young man.

I didn't realize how controlling the dad was of Emoni's basketball career. Especially to the point of forming a school of 12 students. Seems worse than LaVar Ball. Good luck to him, he'll need it.

Yep, when we were recruiting him I felt like it was a HUGE red flag. The father has made very poor decisions that effected Bates development. As a sophomore he was supposed to be the next Durant or Lebron. He fell off hard with all of his dad's meddling.

In all fairness, having a child projected to be the next Magic, Michael, LeBron by SI at such a young age isn't territory that parents can predict or be ready for. How do you know who to trust? How do you navigate such an unusual situation. Fine line between protecting him and suffocating him to the point of stunting growth. Tough. As a parent you can only research, take the info at hand and make decisions with the best interest at heart. Sometimes it works, sometimes it doesn't. Hopefully dad is trying to help Emoni, not being selfish in some sort of way.

But there is NO excuse for blaming others for not (yet) living up to the hype. Keep your head down. Keep grinding. And be your best you, Emoni! Emoni is young by NCAA bball standards, but he's old enough to have accountability and be responsible for himself and his actions.

Good luck, Emoni!
