A 5' 7" forward w only 16 pts in 61 games, good for 16th overall in scoring on his USHL team?

I would be very surprised to see him in a WMU jersey in the near future, if at all...

D Zac Galambos, who was voted First Team Atlantic Hockey & the March Defender of the Month, committed to Western. He has two years of eligibility remaining.

Is Nick Strom still on the team? I might've missed him leaving.

I think we will have a large freshman class. This obviously isn't set in stone...WMU Hockey Commits last projection had the following 2022's:

F Cole Burtch
F Ethan Wolthers
F Theo Thrun
F Cade DeStefani
F Ryan McAllister (this dude is setting scoring records)
F Barrett Brooks

D Samuel Sjoland

G Will Hambley

F Theo Thrun should be on roster this year. Local GR kid who played AAA at Fox Motors (same as Knuble). I've heard good things.

Did the NCAA put a roster limit in place this year?

I believe Strom is in the portal so dont count on him coming back.

Also, I heard that although Mcallister is setting scoring records, the AJHL isnt a very strong junior league but that doesnt mean he wont be a good player for us but it will probably take him a year or two to get used to the NCAA game and he is a bit on the smaller side too.

Would be big if Gallant and Rome come back for us.

Also, Rhett Kingston ended up going the NCAA D3 route when he left WMU, hes playing at SUNY Plattsburgh, only played in 2 games when he got there in the 2nd half of the season.

I think he got hurt last season or the season before, sounds like it kind of did him in, he was pretty good for us in 2019-2020 season.

Not sure what happened.

Just because he doesnt have a ton of points in 61 games does not necessarily mean he wont be a good fit or NCAA player.

For instance, Ty Glover, now signed by Pittsburgh after only two seasons at WMU. Only had 14 points in 42 games in the USHL the year before coming to WMU.

Maybe he just doesnt fit the role of the system that he is currently in the USHL and will be a better fit in Fersch's system, maybe? Maybe not.

There is a big jump from USHL to NCAA D1, game is faster and far more physical do to the maturity/age of the players at the NCAA level.

Comparing Glover to Barrett is like comparing a watermelon to an apple. Sure they both put up modest numbers in the USHL, but a 6'3" power forward doesn't have to put up huge offensive numbers in order to make an impact in the game. But at 5' 6", unless Barrett is highly skilled, dynamic and offensively gifted (his stats/history say's he is not), his size most likely would be a liability for a team.

I suspect Barrett will play another year of Juniors. Unless his offensive numbers make significant gains in juniors, I'm skeptical we will ever see him in a WMU jersey.

Set a new MN Wilderness (NAHL) franchise record for points by a rookie with 61 and ties the franchise overall single-season point record.

I see Muskegon drafted him Tues., but it wouldn't surprise me to see him come in next year.

Assuming Gallent and Rome return, I would say they'll add Burtch, Walters and McAllister. The others will play another year of juniors.

The fact Muskegon made REXINE their second overall pick in the draft (behind a goalie who was their #1 pick) leads me to believe they do not plan on bring him in next year. Typically Junior A teams have candid conversations with college teams regarding their personnel plans prior to the draft.

But, if something would happen between now with the current roster and when school starts, I think Rexine would be the next man up.
