Emoni Bates is the embodiment of what is wrong with youth sports & AAU basketball.

The kid team hopped on the AAU circuit until his father started a program, Bates Fundamentals, to feature his son. He played 2 years in HS at Lincoln HS & excelled, until his father started a “one season only” HS team at Ypsilanti Prep, an “online HS, to again feature his son. After Emoni reclassified, the online team/school disbanded.

So its no wonder, after getting to Memphis and understandably struggling, his father pulled him home with a feigned back injury & then poor mouthed the coach for his struggles. Perhaps Eastern Michigan would be desperate enough to take on a father/son package deal, but most secure coaches & programs will steer clear of that cancer,; and its unfortunate, because the kid would benefit if the father would let go. This is far more about the father than the kid… it usually is.

Michigan doesn't want Emoni... it's clear now he's in over his head, and it's extremely questionable whether he has the humility/disciple to buckle down and improve.

If Emoni was the primary cancer (which is becoming evident), last year without him could have resulted in more wins/better seeding.

Yep a kid that highly ranked and Michigan and Michigan State are out on him says a lot

Yep. Maybe that’s how he came to be a Tiger in the first place.

So after the Ole Miss game it was the upper classmen who were sabotaging the team and now it is the super freshman who is sabotaging the program.

Is every player out to get him?

And a player who choose to transfer in and walk on just to be on the team is told to take a hike.

If this was any other previous Tiger coach most of you would be questioning his fitness to be the coach.
