Agree. Or even football or something like a performs e center all sports can use. Basketball is 15 dudes and 15 ladies. Don’t see a need for additional baskets to shoot at when there are already a bunch within UA. This isnt duke

Forgive my ignorance, I'm not a basketball guy, but why does the basketball team need a practice facility?

Yeah I never understood that. If you have money available, why not just make improvements to the current facility?

Isn't there like 10 basketball courts in the Rec Center. Couldn't they just wall off 1 or 2 courts there and use for practice?

It's about keeping up with the Joneses and recruiting. They have special lounges and amenities for just the basketball players. They can use them anytime they want away from the regular student body. Most MAC schools have them and we don't. You can see the results on the court which is why we keep firing our coaches.

Last time I checked the student body can’t use UA. UA is not used much by the university for other events, shows, concerts, graduation. It’s basically men’s and women’s basketball. Women’s track in winter. And gymnastics, which already has a separate training area. Agree lounges and better locker facilities need to updated within UA as well as the weight room. But that’s different then a whole separate practice facility just for basketball.

Seems really unnecessary to me, but I understand the arms race. College athletics is just a competition to outspend other schools. It's a really unhealthy thing for universities, in my opinion. Way too focused on athletics while academics continue to suffer.

And it has trickled down to high schools, too. Multiple districts in Michigan have announced new multi-multi-million dollar indoor practice facilities. HS grads can't tell you what the civil war was about or do their own taxes, but at least they can practice sports inside!

Sorry, I'm just ranting now.

With practice facilities each team has their own practice court available at any time. They don't have to schedule around another team's practice or gymnastics meets, track meets, or when it's open. They have access cards to do individual training 24/7. They also have training/rehab rooms specifically designed for basketball. It does seem excessive but unfortunately that's part of today's arms race in college. It contributes to why our teams have sucked for quite awhile.

I highly doubt there is any sort of press conference... the announcement probably isn't even that big.

My guess is that they are going to re-start giving away hot dogs using that potato canon type thing at the basketball games. Man, I miss that. The hot dogs would disintegrate in the air and rain on the fans.

Sadly, when it comes to Bronco facilities, this probably will be the biggest announcement we'll have for a long time. SMH
