RE: Basketball Offseason
I enjoyed watching them play and beat Illinois on a Sunday afternoon earlier this month. They played 40 minutes of defense and made things happen in transition. I hope a network picks this game up or one of our friends from the south flies us all down to catch the game.

Holy cow. And I was just reading how Allen Moff doesn't do journalism. This looks like journalism to me.

I see that OU’s Boals is the leading candidate for the Butler job unless Thad Matta is healthy enough and can be convinced to take the job. Boals’ buyout decreases by $100K as of 4/2, so if it is he, it wouldn’t be announced until tomorrow. Groce also mentioned.

RE: Basketball Offseason
Travis Steele just hired as new Miami Head Coach
Fired after 4 undistinguished years at Xavier.
He was fired after first round NIT win vs Clev St.

Xavier went on to win NIT without him

Many Miami fans not impressed. Evidently he was hired within 2 weeks and Miami never did much of a search

Steele wasn't fired because of results. There was a huge power struggle at Xavier. I don't know a ton about it, but good 'ole DJ Bosse does and gave me some of the scoop. It was brewing way back when we played them.

DJ is a great person and much more knowledgeable than me , all I will add is Steele was only 70-50 at Xavier . Never made NCAA and those are not Xavier numbers. I have never liked Miami , so as far as I’m concerned he can bring his “dirty laundry” to Oxford.

I will admit that despite not liking Miami , Charlie Coles was awesome.

Verbal commits has Hernandez transferring. Can't say this is a huge surprise. Barring any unforeseen defections he was pretty well buried in our backcourt. So that makes three available scholarships to fill.

I would not say he was buried as - for the most part - he played meaningful minutes most of the season. However, his production was minimal and he didn't offer much hope of getting better.

He was versatile, but not really strong enough at anything to ever be a starter. Not quite a good enough shooter or ball handler or rebounder, but did play decent defense and was reliable enough to keep on the floor for meaningful minutes in games when needed.

Just curious. Was he one of the 9 guys that told Coach he wasn’t leaving?

I believe so. With him gone that's 8 scholarship players left. Hopefully Sendy's info had an accuracy of 8/9ths.

The TP is just another excuse to hide from the squat rack or hex bar.

Some of you probably saw this elsewhere, by UT’s Ryan Rollins has hired an agent and declared for the NBA draft. Hiring an agent ends your collegiate eligibility.

Pretty sure Jimmy Hall did the same and then came back. Gives him an opportunity to get evaluated and gauge interest.

There’s a process in place to have an agent, test the waters, and still return to college.

Walker did it as well. Gets your name out there. For EU scouts too.

Next time you talk to Bosse ask him if he wants his white game shorts back. I bought them off him when he was working at the KSU golf course - I am friends with Jeff Anderson who was with me and helped facillitate the deal. He can have them for free - they are in perfect shape just sitting in a dresser drawer for almost 30 years. I live in Cinti too (and think Bosse might too....I think I know someone who used to work with him down here). Weird request I know, but in case he has any nostaligia for Kent things....he can have them back.
