Or maybe the next spring practice will be cut 30 minutes short. Lol.

So we are now up to THREE 2023 verbals. Correct???
Yes three. I can't recall having this many football verbals in MARCH.

Just a wild guess. No inside info. MAYBE with the tight h.s. recruiting market the last two years recruits are committing early not wanting to get in a numbers game.
Here is 247sports on him.

I can't remember having 3 commits this early either! A big plus also is Springfield high school produces a lot of D1 talent as well! Maybe, this is finally the year, we finish in the top 5 in MAC recruiting! Recruiting, and coaching win championships!

Steve, you are correct. I think these guys are quicker to secure a spot early and take the decision out of the schools hands with getting a portal guy who might be available later.

Soon we'll exhaust our 'super seniors' (those who have or had the 'free' year) and recruiting will return closer to normal.
My guess the next 'door to open' is JUCO. I'd guess a lot of kids without good D-I offers in the last year or two opted for JUCO and they should be entering the recruiting mill now.
We are living in uncharted times (anyone alive in 1918 for the Spanish Flu?) No. So we are seeing conditions we have never seen before.

This is very true so far in MAC men's basketball recruiting where the emphasis seems to be true freshmen

My wild guess is portal transfer Vidal Scott Jr. who would be eligible for the 2022 season.

RE: 2023 EMU FB Recruiting Thread
let me get your thoughts on this....
In my opinion there's been an incredible amount of player interest and social media tweets about their visits and how appreciative they are. I haven't seen this in the past. Do you think that the portal has changed high school player appreciation for college interest?
I'm not saying players should be in awe or bow down to a college showing interest, but I think with the portal situation now, it would make sense for a player to lock down an offer early to secure a spot and to tell the college to not look in the portal

Frankly I would hate to be 3 star or below HS prospect right now. The transfer portal is overloaded thanks to the Covid extra year and the delusion of greener pastures without an established history of any failures as to such. Their film accomplishments don't equate to a college transfer or a number two on the depth chart at a successful NCAA program. Finally, if I were Chris Creighton or Stan Heath, finding a HS diamond in the rough is no longer a victory as the kid could pack up and leave after one season. Committing early would seem wise for a kid, I would agree with you.
Still, I think their tweets with respect to school offers are less out of gratitude than in self-publication, we are after all in the "Twitter age".
