Anti-Zip I think you are only looking at the short term. If the University President, Athletic Director, head coach, MAC Commissioner don't take action today the issue will have far greater negative results than a gameday decision.

How do corporate sponsors, athletic donors, high school students considering Kent for their undergraduate work look at this? Would you like taking the calls this morning from people who have put their money into Kent State and are disgusted by that video?

I don't think letting it slide or handing out a warning is a good option.

Maybe I'm wrong, but I feel like a 30 second video of a bench player singing Eff Akron probably isn't making sponsors, donors, and future students reconsider.

I will say one thing. If you go back on this board there are some pretty negative comments about the city of Akron and the University itself that wouldn’t play well on social media. Most in jest but a lot of people wouldn’t see that. My role models included Jim Brown and Billy Martin and I somehow made it.

Ditto…cringy, dumb, stupid and you never want to give bulletin board material, but they had enough of that after the last W at there place. And if people need motivation beyond a nationally televised championship game against your worst enemy then they aren’t giving their 100% anyway.

I didn't say they won't suspend anyone. I said I don't see us losing students, sponsors, and donors over this.

Whoever the kid is making and starring in the video should not be in the arena tonight nor probably in the program hereafter. Who is he anyway? I don’t recognize him. Beyond him, there’s a lot of unintelligible noise in a post-game celebration. Let’s not paint with too broad a brush. Let’s be specific about who recorded and posted and who just happened to be there because they were celebrating a big win and never intended for a locker room celebration to be online.

Well that hurts. Keep it close in the first half and gang rebound. Garcia, Beck, Hamilton, and Davis need to bring it in the first half. I bet Sendy is regretting letting Johnson stay on the team after his BS earlier in the season. Since he hasn't played it wasn't a basketball decision to let him stay. No good deed goes unpunished I guess.

Thank goodness there were no cell phones nor social media when I was in college.

Now that I've seen it, I'm disgusted. I know that kids today are "about" different things than past generations and that social media apps like tic tac, snapchat and instagram have made this sort of stuff seem "normal." But none of that changes that these guys are representing Kent State, their team and themselves. I cringe thinking that middle school players see stuff like this and think it is acceptable. Immature & low-class. Makes me wonder, with the growing number of basketball coaching staff (seven based on my count), plus all the admin hangers-on, that someone would have interrupted & put a stop to this. I would also expect more leadership from the upperclassmen, but they have had their moments this season also.

Why did no one put a stop to it? Probably because things are said and done in every locker room that wouldn't look good. They just didn't realize someone would be dumb enough to post it.

I honestly don't see a problem with what was said and done in the video. They preach that Akron is the enemy and huge rival. Player treats them like a rival and now people are upset. Are they supposed to hold hands and sing kumbaya while expressing positive feelings?

Was it dumb to post it? Sure, but can we take a second to look around the country right now. How many "let's go Brandon" signs, t-shirts, and bumper stickers do you see on a daily basis? If the "adults" of this country can say f the President and not be punished why are we punishing 18-22 year olds for saying the same thing.

I just find it crazy that we hold younger generations to higher standards than we hold ourselves. Students get crapped on the most by the universities they attend. I was in my thirties while getting my degree and had to fight professors and administrators over their ridiculous standards they held students to.

If there was an actual altercation between the players I would agree with the suspension. But singing a song about a rival and getting punished is a joke. I guarantee that after Kent won last night or even during the game there were Akron fans and players saying f Kent. This was a knee jerk reaction without really thinking it through.

I know it won't happen but I hope both teams refuse to play the first half and just sit on the court in protest.
