RE: ODU's AD discusses the departure to the SB
Translation: CUSA is acting childish and amateurish.
Bottom line is CUSA is losing their biggest brands and they're mad/freaking out because they know in the next 5-10 years CUSA will cease to be an FBS conference. Too spread out, FB brand value won't be there, TV revenue will take a MASSIVE hit (sad considering how bad it already is), TV games will be non existent, bowl tie-in contracts will dissolve/won't be renewed. So this stalling is all a money grab to get as much money as they can while they can because quite frankly, many of CUSA's administrative "leaders" will be bolting in the coming years. The conference was already on life support. Now the doctors are walking towards the plug to pull it from the wall. It's all a money grab. It'll be settled by March 1st. I just feel bad for LT/UTEP/FIU/WKU/MTSU...SHSU, Liberty, Jxnville State, and NM State aren't going to move any needles for CUSA. What's gonna happen in 5-10 years is MTSU/WKU will go to the MAC. LT/Liberty/UTEP will go Indy. FIU/NM State/JSU/SHSU will go back to FCS somewhere.

Ha! You have an over inflated opinion of your "brand". If your brands were so valuable, the AAC would have invited the lot of you. Face it. Southern Miss's glory days were 25 years ago. Your brand has tarnished.

Can we let Marshall and ODU go but force USM to suffer?

The AAC wouldn't invite Alabama. Tuscaloosa is too small of a town.

Calm down there buddy - no need to get all fussy pants on us. When I mention "brands" I'm talking about the 9 teams leaving CUSA. I say again, CUSA is losing their biggest brands and they're mad/freaking out because they know in the next 5-10 years CUSA will cease to be an FBS conference.

I disagree. I think C-USA will survive as a G5 conference. There is an endless supply of FCS programs waiting to be called up within their footprint. And, I don't think any current member of C-USA can claim superiority over the others. We all have our shortcomings. If any of us had impressive brands, our current media deal wouldn't be garbage, and the Sun Belt wouldn't be able to poach anyone from C-USA.

CUSA will be a better conference, the one who needs to worry is the SBC. Its too large and full of underperforming assets.

RE: ODU's AD discusses the departure to the SB
Well, if we’re done measuring dicks or if we could take a quick break, I’m reading these tea leaves as 1) The schools might not necessarily work in tandem. Marshall filed suit obviously, USM May or may not follow that lead, ODU doesn’t have the arbitration rules that is a point in MU’s lawsuit so who knows what we’ll see. Might be multiple strategies. If ODU goes to arbitration, MU has already filed in WV, then USM May file another suit in Mississippi. That’s stretching the legal team of CUSA. Which brings me to observation 2) The Sun Belt will release a schedule with the 3 on it. That’s opening another legal front for CUSA possibly. That’s a lot of litigation in a little time considering football starts in September and apparently the only remedy is us playing according to the bylaws. So CUSA absolutely has to redo their schedules or else leave the remaining members in a lurch. So if they are forced to do that courts will eventually figure out some damages, maybe some punitive damages who knows but it’s going to take a long time to hash out and “specific performance” ain’t happening. There was no doubt from Dr Selig that we’d be playing a Sun Belt schedule next year. Seems we’re at the point where we’re calling the bluff, we’ll pay lawyers or we’ll pay the conference. Last call. Do we see a settlement soon or do we go full retard?
