I guess it would start this fall.

On their website they call themselves the Atlantis University Owls. How does a school with the name Atlantis pick an Owl as their mascot?

Seriously. C'mon man! These colleges piss me off with stupid team names. Lazy basic crap, no thought, just "that's good enough".

Their proximity to FAU is the curious part.

Their motto is "Growth in Wisdom" Owls traditionally have been associated with Wisdom, so it is a logical name.

Talladega College To Develope A Stadium Size Practice Field

I am putting this out there. If they add football? I could see them moving up to D2 as well to join Tuskegee.

Atlantis is a Greek Mythology, and the Owl represents one of the Greek Goddesses.

That's good news, because college football in California has been shrinking rapidly. Very programs shave started up, or restarted, and lots have disappeared.

Would have been impressed if this was a 4-year school. Instead, it's just another 2-year community college in California.

It's a shame they didn't bring it back when they were D1.

Centenary was the smallest school in Division I (800) and has dropped to just 549 since then per US News. Football figures to bump that number up.

A brilliant strategy, I think. With the GI Bill contributing to their tuition, Thomas U will be able to recruit fit, mature and disciplined athletes to their program without expending athletic scholarships, and veterans will gain entry to a good education in their own locality in a military supportive area.

Their head coach comes from assistant positions at The Citadel and West Point:

RE: Colleges And Universities That Added Or Dropped Their Football teams
West Virginia University Tech has announced that they will be starting football. They didn't include any dates and will have to raise money and build a field, but it seems like a real plan.

https://www.register-herald.com/news/wvu...b927f.html

WV Tech used to have football before they were taken over by West Virginia University, and relocated to Beckley (to the old Mountain State University campus), where there has never been a football field.
