The whole young kids deal just pisses me off.

Surely he is not so disconnected to understand the reason he is playing young kids is because his old kids are the same players they were as freshmen. That is his fault

RE: Grounds for dismissal or suspension
His main problem as a recruiter, even with vital pieces returning from a team that had finally gotten it together, he was dead set on replacing all of them all summer with a completely new team, and players that should be in High School still. As opposed to finding complimentary pieces to go around them and doing all he could to keep boogie. Landers Nollie is a player than any college basketball program can build around. How this is not realized by this coaching staff is beyond me. Dude is an assassin. But he’s been recruited over and relegated to the bench.

He should at most receive a small fine and apologize but caulkins sucks. Penny will learn. It’s just taking longer than almost thought. He is busting his butt. If Pastner can find a bone, penny can too. Pastner sucked. I don’t want to see that dweeb anywhere near Memphis

"Grounds for dismissal or suspension"??

Of course not. Have you ever heard a Bob Knight presser? Penny was mild compared to that.

He needed to stand up for himself, or he would've lost the team.

The content of his response was valid. Memphis has dominated in games against Alabama and Wichita State. Missing players does change the equation.

Our last losses were to Kenpom 52 and 154 teams. They lost to Kenpom ranked 222 Georgia with the injured guys and he threw them under the bus.

Using naughty language isnt uncommon at coaches pressers. It's been a tough year.

Lost the team? He has never had this team. Pretty from the first loss of the season he started throwing the players under the bus, stating the players were fighting, being selfish, etc. All of which are marks of a coach without control of his players. Watch the games on the court. The team plays reckless, out of control and without any regard for coaching.

You cannot lose something you never had...

And likely will hit the portal soon. At the time it happened I wasn't very concerned over losing DJ. I was mildly concerned over losing Boogie and even more so over losing Baugh.

Bone headed coaching has gotten us to where we are at present.

Nolley may well be gone too. If something doesn't improve soon we will go the way of UNLV and Depaul, as someone else mentioned in another thread. When attendance falls below our contractual obligation to the Forum I wonder where we'll play.

RE: Grounds for dismissal or suspension
Penny’s biggest problem coaching is his allocation of playing time and substitution pattern. We can argue which players we like or don’t like but you have to pick 8 guys and PLAY them. Theses players want consistency and routine. It’s basically impossible to play 10-11 players and make them happy. The injuries and Covid issues should eliminate this and it does help with players minutes but his substitution pattern is all over the place.
