No, the government has decided that private entities can no longer mandate health restrictions for using their business. Schools have required vaccinations and other health requirements for ages. I've uploaded my immunization records to UC for 8 straight years now. By law they can rescind my enrollment for not doing so. That never happens because people have always recognized the value of medicine in protecting our public health, and the role that private entities play in instituting that change.

For instance, the Florida mandate that you mentioned has made it so hospitals are now limited in their ability to mandate masks for entry. Or vaccinations. We have ample data (read: proof) that these tools help reduce the burden of Covid on individuals and the broader public. Yet, the government is allowed to decide that hospitals can't use those tools to protect themselves (the business), their staff, and their patients? It's stupid, counterintuitive, anti-science, whatever you want to call it. DeSantis is supposedly a smart guy. That was a horrifically stupid decision.

We're leading all developed nations in hospitalizations and deaths per millions of people. The good news is that cases are beginning to plateau and ICU capacity should go down soon too.

Sounds like we’ve done a bang up job this past year.

35 times the deaths per million than India. Of course, they have widespread use of ivermectin. lol. The boogeyman of the covidians.

Or perhaps it’s just because we are a nation of fatsos and all the health problems that go hand in hand with obesity. Lots of low hanging fruit.

Like, this is laughable. We're leading all developed nations in hospitalizations and deaths per millions of people.

I blame our president, he said he had a plan for covid but now we have far more weekly hospital admissions than we did in the second largest spike, and that was prior to us having widespread vaccine availability.

You might be onto something...if only we were allowed to talk about obesity without the dangerous side effects of hurting peoples feelings. Below is a chart that just shows the US compared to Europe, which is the second fattest group on our planet.

https://ourworldindata.org/grapher/share...Europe~USA

And here's the CDC saying that obesity triples your chance of hospitalization. Note, this doesn't include "overweight", just clinically obese. Obviously we have more overweight people also, and obviously they're at elevated risk from covid.

https://www.cdc.gov/obesity/data/obesity...id-19.html

So yeah, I think we do have the best healthcare in the world. We also have the unhealthiest population.

A whopping 36.2% of our population is obese. Europe is second at 23%. So a minimum of 13% of our population has an inherent 3-fold increase with their risk of hospitalization than the other developed countries that Cataclysmo referred to.

Instead of taxing tobacco even more maybe we should implement the sugar tax. If we're going to implement vaccine mandates to attend certain venues in the name of public health, perhaps we should mandate BMI mandates as well. You can't eat at McDonalds if your BMI is over x%.

I'll receive the response of "yeah but when you're obese you're only hurting yourself". Well, if you're unvaccinated you're only hurting yourself too right? The vaccinated still get covid, just at a reduced risk. But we are being told that the unvaccinated are filling up the hospitals. Aren't the obese doing the same? I'm sure there's a disproportionate percentage of obese in hospitals compared to healthy BMI people.

If the liberals are going to pump vaccine mandates, I assume they're also in favor of sugar taxes and BMI tests prior to buying junk food.

Well, this is going to bum out the regular suspects:

Per The NY Times a CDC study admitted what many have said for a year plus.

Now according to the CDC, natural immunity from prior infection grants stronger levels of protection against the Delta variant than vaccines alone.

My shocked face….

Once again, the difference between anti science “conspiracy theories” and actual admitted fact is about 6-9 months.

I am not supposed to be posting here anymore, but letting it slide for a post. My 8 year old brought it in the house last week, he laid on the couch for a day, then couple days of cough. The other 2 kids and us parents all tested positive about 5 days later. Few days of malaise and some cough, we are all looking pretty fit right now. I also lost 3 transplant patients to COVID in the prior two weeks.

Had 37 family members over for Christmas, went to Dallas and tailgated and partied at bars for three days and went to game, just returned from Boyne Highlands in northern Michigan skiing where we were in several crowded bars including one for the Bengal game. No masks, felt great. living life.

Another case of what us uneducated schleps have been saying for the last two years and getting criticized for doing so.

This is gaslighting. I criticized you for suggesting we could abolish the CDC. That's not the same as the (completely valid) criticism the CDC receives from health professionals, especially in regards to their public messaging.

Fact: The CDC and NIH both issued recommendations several times that were not in sync with each other.

Fact: Some people criticized them because of the apparent contradictions.

Fact: People who criticized CDC/NIH were heavily criticized and often banished from social media for expressing their opinion.

Fact: FOIA actions forced CDC/NIH to release records where it was shown that they were not following the science. Moreover, it clearly showed a desire on their part to crush any and all of their critics.

Fact: The AMA criticized CDC guidelines for being:

- confusing
- contradictory
- self referential when drawing conclusions

Son, their ain’t no gaslighting going on.

The speed of recent reversal of info at all levels is fascinating to watch.

I saw this yesterday from our buddy Fauci

White House chief medical advisor Dr. Anthony Fauci on Wednesday said the Food and Drug Administration could approve Pfizer and BioNTech’s vaccine for children under 5 years old in the next month.

“My hope is that it’s going to be within the next month or so and not much later than that, but I can’t guarantee that,” Fauci said during an interview with Blue Star Families, a nonprofit group that supports military families.

Fauci said younger children will likely need three doses, because two shots did not induce an adequate immune response in 2 to 4 year olds in Pfizer’s clinical trials.

"Lost 3 transplant patients to COVID". According to https://www.donatelife.net/statistics/?g...gKO2fD_BwE transplant patients died long before COVID. I recently posted an article on how cancer patients, etc. are being wrongly classified as "COVID deaths".

During the era of COVID a far, far lower percentage of people died from the FLU than past years as well. Weird.
