The Good News is that we only had 8 turnovers and shot 19-24 from the FT line.
The Bad News is @#$%^&*+<>"!

Wow. I stand corrected in a big way . See what Coach By magic has up his sleeve now to refocus this squad

Coach just said th4 NCAA voted no redshirts for the freshmen, anyway. Apparently, some else is hurt so they may be playing real minutes.

RE: JMU at Elon hoops
Coach confirmed that the new redshirt rule will not take effect as it was voted down. That is why he played Savage and Stinson at the end. I didn’t see McConnell get in though.

That game was garbage and he didn’t shed much light in the postgame. No real explanation for why the team was doubling and trapping a guard based team that shoots 3’s as their first option.

The only mildly good news I can think of is that the game counts as a single loss. As emasculating as it was for the team to get smoked from beginning to end by a bad Elon team, it counts the same in the CAA standings as losing on a last second buzzer beater.

The CAA regular season title is still up for grabs and with 4 straight home games coming, the Dukes should be favored in all 4. If they can make it happen and move to 6-2 in the CAA I think that will be enough to be in first place and have a lot to play for down the stretch.

Is Strickland out the next game for getting ejected? If so, that hurts specially if Sule and Nacho are still out. The team needs his on ball defense.

Unless there is a new rule I don't know about, getting kicked out for arguing does not affect the next game. A fight or somethiing violent would usually cause a suspension, but I don't think just run of the mill techs would.

It feels like the CAA only suspends a player for being ejected due to a fight, but I’m not certain. When was the last time a JMU player got ejected? Andre Nation?

If we dont bring defense or have a great offensive night, we will struggle

I disagree. In the past, I’ve had purple colored glasses. This year, I believe we actually do have the talent . Not far superior, but as good as any in the CAA. And although we may not come back and win this one, I expect us to make a charge and not surprised if we do.

I agree with your disagreement. 04-cheers

This JMU team has plenty of talent, plus good coaching. It’s not a surprise that it’s a winning team, and the record is not “inflated”…whatever that is supposed to mean. The team is gritty, and plays hard and unselfishly. It’s earned every win, although there does seem to be a trend of slow starts.

Now…to today’s game against Elon. First, I was busy so didn’t tune in to listen. Thank goodness for small miracles. What a complete letdown after the W&M game. As fans we can now kiss chances of playing in this year’s NIT goodbye.

17 threes by Elon? How the heck does that happen? Did Stephen Curry suit up for Elon?

Worse performance of the year, and my question for Coach By is why didn’t we adjust?

We aren't a bad defensive team, but man we have gotten smoked at the 3 point line the last two games. Gonna have to figure out how to adjust there

Lou Rowe 3 defense better be a small hiccup.

Odd none of the freshman were signed to play this season.

Hodge may be at the top of the potential transfer list.

I skipped the second half. But you're right about Hodge. An able body junior on a short handed team only logged 5 minutes. I wouldn't blame him for leaving.

Elon is not great, but they are also probably not as bad as there record might indicate.

They have lost 13 games. Here are some of the teams included in that 13:

Florida
Ole miss
West Virginia
Temple
Duke
North Carolina
Arkansas
Jax state ( 1st place in ASun)

They’ve played the kind of schedule Hart dreams of.

It looked like he got hurt today on a loose ball scrum on the floor. I know he had Knee surgery before he transferred to JMU and he was grabbing his knee area like he may have tweaked something. We’ll see Thursday.

Coach talked all last year about how he was the best shooter on the team, but he never got untracked to earn that label. This year he has been an excellent 3 pt shooter, but is really a one trick pony and doesn’t help the defense much when they are in pressure mode. If an opponent ever decides to zone JMU, he should immediately be put in the game and fire away.

Maybe we should see more offense/defense substitutions especially in late game situations of tight games. Hodge is one of a few players who are either strong on offense or strong on defense, but struggle at the other end.

^ agree. one more potentially parting shot by CAA and JBofD. Ridiculously vindictive if it happens.

I can't believe we haven't fired Byington by now. It's almost been 24 hours since that loss.

He's got a lot of losses to catch up to the Rowe firing number.
