Silver lining... We might only be missing one year of Tari if he keeps going at this rate, though he definitely would have made a big impact here.

And we miss his mamma!

I’ve watched about 1/2 dozen LSU games this year. Tari has rare talent and athleticism. If he wants to play in the NBA, he’ll need to learn how to play hard against all opponents. He has games where he is a bit lazy because the competition isn’t there (i.e., playing against a non-ranked team).

BTW, LSU didn’t steal him from UC. Our former coach made it an easy decision for him to leave. I wish him continued success.

White haired ref in the Zavier game is a complete homer.

Memphis looks like they're back on track against us, then pops a squat in Orlando.

Nearly every year I think maybe this is the year the AAC breaks through to be a really good basketball conference, but it never happens. Seems like multiple teams crap the bed when they were supposed to be good. So glad the Big 12 is on the horizon.

Tulane beats another quality AAC opponent on the road beating Witchy St 68-67. Tulane is now 4-1 in conference play. What the hell has happened to WSU? They have crapped the bed after the first couple of seasons in the AAC with Marshall.

Tulane has a flawed team but they have 3 dudes who can absolutely get buckets.

Uh... They fired Greg Marshall?

Seriously. That's about it. Without Greg Marshall, they are basically Tulsa without football.

They made an easy hire from the old staff after they got rid of that jerk Marshall. They are going to smart from that hire for years. They have no recruits for 22’ and they are reportedly looking at a big exodus via xfer portal.

How long will Memphis tolerate the horrible performance by Penny.

Great recruits no accomplishments.

Memphis hasn't been to the NCAA tournament since 2014. How is that even possible for a program of that history and resources and tons of local talent? Being the programs legendary player will buy him extra slack but they're 9-6 this year. If they don't make the tournament I can't see how his seat isn't hot next year.

To be fair to X, Villanova is probably a top 5 team.

They're already to the point of probably needing to win the Conference Tournament to make the tournament IMO.

Why? They were squarely on the bubble heading into yesterday and lost to a Q1 UCF. Having 2 Quad1 wins helps them and they have a decent SOS at 63. Barring some more Q3 losses or a Q4 stunner they will probably be competing for a spot into March IMO

Also, so long as Memphis is recruiting like this you can't fire penny. He's bringing in Kentucky level talent and is a first time head coach. I'm sure there's someone out there who could make memphis respectable with a 3-4 year rebuild but do you really want to take a chance on that before being demoted into an even crappier conference? It could be worse than being on the bubble with a 4th year HC.

I should've said a little bit more. Marshall's first year in the AAC was his best. He went 14-4 in conference play [25-8 overall] and made the tourney as a 4 seed [lost in the first round]. The next two seasons he finished 10-8 and 11-7 in conference play and did not make the tournament either of those seasons. This was a program that was supposedly added for its competitiveness and upside once in the AAC. That isn't happening now of course but Marshall's ability to win at a high clip started to fall after his first season. I also remember all the Wichita St fans over on the conference board who beat their chests when they first arrived on the scene. They were going to dominate the conference LOL. Now, there's only a handful of posters over there. My point is this is a program that hasn't lived up to its original billing IMO. They would've been better staying in the MVC in hindsight.

RE: 2021-22 College Basketball Season General Thread
I think what happened there is the same thing that happened to Memphis...they were superior against inferior. When you replace ****** teams with people like Cincinnati, UConn, then Houston and SMU comes up...it isn't the same as Wichita playing Missouri State every couple of months.
