I would take Coombs to coach the DB's, but that's it!

Hell na! Recruiting/Assistant HC/more administrative positions is all. Schemes and many of his players fundamentals (especially tackling) have been poor if not bad at Ohio State. I started school there in fall of '12 so basically have watched is whole career there.

Also, Ohio State is parting ways with Al Washington.

Coombs was the ST Coach here at UC back in my day and did a phenomenal job at it, mainly because it allowed him the freedom to recruit a **** ton and ST Coaches are 75% Motivation and 25% tactics...he also coached Mickens and DeLo...I don't want him calling plays, but I'm more than fine with him being on staff and motivating/recruiting his ass off for us.

I wouldn’t be surprised if Coombs doesn’t just retire. I don’t know all the details but doesn’t the Ohio education retirement plan he’s in have something to do with the average of the last # of years in the system? If so, he comes here that average may drop quite a bit.

My personal opinion of him was that he was a very good recruiter but a meh on-field coach when he was here. Our DL play improved immensely the minute he moved on to Michigan.

I was wondering if Coombs would still be the same energetic rah-rah guy we remember from the 2000s. He turned 60 years old last year. Hard to be energetic when you're old enough to need a walker. 03-old

No, it's highest 5 year average, so him working here would just help bump his %bracket up higher (more years equals higher percentage of that highest 5 year average). STERS and PERS are different, he probably rolled into PERS with the College coaching, STERS does last 5, PERS does highest 5...you can choose which one at point of retirement if you have money in both.

KC’s Ohio recruiting wasn’t that above board when he was there. Most of his guys came from Indiana as I recall.

The D-Line improved in 2018, but I think that was more a symptom of the team improving, and guys like Broughton, Fitz and Copeland developing and the fact the 2017 team was just not very good. I don't think coaching was an issue.

He recruited Indy well. Not so much Ohio, especially Cincy, which is why BK brought him on staff. What he lacked in coaching he made up for in energy and cheerleading for the program. I'd hire him to show recruits around and maybe special teams.

No, I am just refuting the point people have made about him recruiting Ohio. With Fick, Tressel, Gino and Crook we already have the chops to recruit extremely well in this state.

RE: 2022 Bearcat Football
it's hilarious...a couple of weeks ago, a bearcat fan posted on twitter how Arkansas lost two corners to LSU via the transfer portal. in the weeks since, they added an LB from Alabama and a corner from LSU. it's like SEC FA. They're all just trading players. i say this without commenting on the quality of the departures/acquisitions. Just an observation.

They should make is so you can transfer on a weekly basis. Keep a jersey of every different color in your closet just in case.
