I am totally missing Miggy’s write up for this game! I am not even going to attempt to match his info, but expect a lot of posts from me during the game as I will be watching from home rather than attending the game. My family all has covid so have to isolate (no worries, we are on the mend).

This early “easy” stretch of games is critical to put EMU in a position to succeed this season. So the Ball St loss was very unfortunate in that respect. EMU needs to win these next two (vs CMU tonight and at NIU Saturday). Let’s see what happens tonight…

The season is young but we’re faced with a must win situation. CMU will not be an easy game for us. We are not consistently good yet. We miss one more scoring guard. I’m looking for Luka to gain 15-20 LBs and be a contributor next season.

CMU 59

Njie is back tonight. Luka has been out (I assume COVID) and he'll be dressed but won't play.

I appreciate Tom Helmer checking in on this each game on the radio. I tune in just for the pregame interview since it's our only consistent place to get injury updates.

ESPN announcers say CMU is only fielding 9 players due to Covid… not sure how that translates to their key players.

Update: guard Lopez Jr is out and is CMU’s second leading scorer.

When our guards shoot well, we are tough to beat. McBride did a great job getting to the line, Monty is knocking down shots, and Spottsville had a nice early burst. CMU has no answer.

It’s also nice to have Njie back. He’s still raw and makes simple mistakes, but the mere presence of an active big man changes how your opponent does things. We probably would’ve beat Ball State if he played. But that’s how it goes sometimes. Glad we are taking care of business right now.

Nice half. Hoping EMU plays even better in the 2nd. A 30 point win over CMU is always pleasant.

It's weak competition, but the shots are falling on the home floor and we have a credible post game. Looking good thus far.

I agree too. But, Farrakhan is not flowing offensively at all. Maybe CMU is keying on him and opening things for McBride and Monty? Or he is just out of it? I love our backcourt, but man can they be frustratingly streaky. That said, I think Noah is still playing some pretty nice defense despite the sluggish offense!

He's distributing well today too, including that pass to McBride on the 3 at the buzzer (which was waved off).

Spottesville is currently leading eastern guards in scoring with 10 points. Hope he continues!!

Rice is now out scoring Noah too! Not to dog the kid, because he is the best on the team!!

They probably are bad, but I think being short handed due to Covid is making them look worse then they probably are. They did beat Kent St after all. (EMU has really lucked out with Covid)

Does Binelli have covid? He wasn't at The Gervin on Saturday and doesn't appear ro be there tonight.
