That's a good point. IIRC, NDST is now 9-0 in the FCS title game, at least during this current streak since 2011. The only times they haven't won are when they were eliminated in an earlier round.
In both cases they lost to the eventual champion - to James Madison in the semifinals in 2016 and to Sam Houston State in the quarterfinals in the COVID year played last spring.
Also lost to eventual champion EWU back in 2010(first year to make playoffs).
