1-9 Central Michigan defeats Kent State at the MAC Center. Awesome.

I love our twitter account. 10 updates a minute during the game and then complete silence. Been 20 mins since it told me we were down three with nine seconds left. I just usually assume no update means we lost.

Good times.

Web site too. When the wrestling team loses big time the headline is Ferri wins. I immediately know the rest of the meet was a disaster.

Back to back poorly coached basketball games. Sincere Carry 2-13 from the 3 but coach still lets him fire 'em up at will. Santiago 0-7 with a quick trigger. No passing, no adjustments, couldn't figure out the zone defense and still, after last game can't get the ball inbounds after they score. So much talent on this team. I hope it doesn't take all year to figure it out. SMH again

6-34 from 3. Pitiful. What bothered me the most was teams body language. They looked defeated at opening of 2nd half. Lifeless
Looked like they only dressed 8 or 9 , but no excuses. CMU 1-10
Does not bode well for the season.

Just saw the attendance listed at 802. That HAS to be a 20-30 year low, right? At least for a conference game?

I would certainly think so.
Santiago was 0-9. Jeeze, you'd almost have to try to miss to do that badly.

I don't think there's a team in the country that we can beat if Gio and Carry go 2-22 from three.

That doesn't speak very well of their inside game.

I realize that it's still early and that this game could end up being an anomaly, but I find myself oddly serene about the loss. Clearly, my expectations have gradually been lowered over the last several years.

RE: Kent State vs. CMU
lots of excuses we could use. covid, no students, no band. BUT they were playing the worst team at home. If you have championship aspirations you have to win that game. And yes the atmosphere was extremely sleepy.

And someone touched on it in earlier thread but while the athletic dept and Dave Carducci are in better personal space or mindset now that Joel's gone the new regime sure does not go out of their way to talk to anyone. Those ever diminishing people in the chairbacks are your donor base and those are the people you need to keep happy.

KSU315 , great points. Donors and season ticket holders are not valued in the least. JN at the least made an effort to know your name and say hello.
Mainstays like Jeff Kurtz were not retained and this has angered many old fans and big time donors. This is contributing to decrease in interest and attendance. KSU Athletics seems aloof to issue.
With our team not doing well we are going to see even lower attendance.

Could that be because of the 20000 cases of COVID on Tuesday. Has anybody noticed that every day a restaurant, store or coffee shop has to close because most of the employees are sick. Omicron might be milder but it’s nailing an awful lot of people vaccinated or not(and 40% of the cases were still delta during Christmas week). It might not be any worse than the flu but I don’t like catching the flu either. I’m out quite a bit but going somewhere with a big crowd is off the list for the time being. COVID is leading Science by at least 3 touchdowns right now.

I'm sure the latest COVID-19 surge had lots to do with it, but I doubt the crowd would have been very large at any rate.

As bad as the Southern loss was - and it was sad - I view this loss to a terrible CMY squad at home as much worse, likely some intermural players who wouldn't go 0-9 on three pointers.
Also agree with comments on railings at MACC - I've seen several folks fall on the upper level steps. My wife who suffers balance issues from cancer treatment can't handle the Dix steps.

The game was also at 4:30. I was going to go but got too busy at work and couldn't dip out early.
