I definitely understand the frustration here, but if we’re going to call out players let’s not use the name calling with it please.

Campbell - GAME 9
Two plays that nearly cost us the game that I was frustrated with were Sims’ lack of moving the ball at the end of the game, and trying to cool-guy cross over and take a forced shot (thank you Shy for hustling back on defense!), and Fornes getting bailed out on a foul by a shot clock violation. Why Fornes was even in the game for the last few minutes is mind boggling to me. Ice cold shooting, just heaves them up, and commits really stupid fouls. I appreciate his aggressive play, but he needs to also be reigned in.

Campbell - GAME 9
Siddle just said two things to Mike V in the post game interview…

1. “We are a good shooting team.”

2. “We are a good free throw shooting team.”

Ummmmm. What?

Two things:
1- We have to press, enough with this token press Bs. Either press or don't.
2- Move on freaking offense. When they moved, good things happened when they didn't bad things happened. Sims hero ball at the end with no movement damn well could have cost us the game. Luckily, Shy bailed him out with a huge okay to stop that fast break layup.

I didn't see today's game, but I was hoping we'd get through this 4 game stretch at 3-1 and we accomplished that. Sounds like we still had some of the same issues as Saturday, but good to get the win.

Personally, I don't like referring to the offense as hero ball. Most may consider this a distinction without a difference, but when no one is moving and the offensive play called is to isolate a match up, it's not the player deciding to play hero ball. It's bad coaching and I'd rather put the heat on Siddle than Sims. Not sure if that if that is what happened today, but the comments sound familiar to what I watched on Saturday. I don't get it!

RE: Campbell - GAME 9
Hawks come up big in the clutch after missing easy shots. We really played well defensively today.

Sims looked better overall/ had a great game (23 points, 7 boards, 2 assists and a block) and Mike and Shy were clutch at the end.

It gets overlooked but Sims and Samb both either got the offensive board (Sims) or caused it to go out on them (Samb). Those plays were big. And , we out rebounded them too! Go Hawks!!

Just for fun…. Fornes was a plus 13 today and the only person better was Mike at plus 14. Crazy but true stats!!

I heard that too. They did hit some clutch free throws at the end of the game.

He is very optimistic on this team that is for sure.

Ugly? Yes. But the Hawks played the last few minutes the way you must in order to win a close game. Remember - the Wainwright era was chocked full of such wins. Ugly wins still count. Just like the bloop single just over the shortstop's reach - it looks like a sharp line drive in the boxscore!
Way to gut it out guys!

Those were a much different situation. We forced the other team to play ugly. And were a much better fundamental team during that period. Like i've always said, an ugly win is better than a pretty loss. But, the lack of identity on offense 75% of the time concerns me. I just don't get why we haven't implemented something yet. Even a basic motion offense? When they move and pass good things happened.

On a calmer note. Brett Blizzard, his wife, kids and his parents were at the game. His little boy had a Blizzard jersey on. #11

Coach Siddle may be looking at it that more passes isn’t necessarily better if he can drive or drive kick with Sims and Shy getting downhill or on a favorable match up? They did get some post touches today but it wasn’t meant to be. And, the Hawks did have more assists than the Camels today and more paint points.

I do understand where y’all are coming from however. It is pretty to see that pill being swung around. A balance is what he’s looking for, I think.

Great job this coaching staff and the kids to get the win against a gritty, hard to defend team/system! Enjoy a few days off and lets get ready for conference play!

When the ball got passed around good things happened and for the most part when we didn't it was ugly. We had three assists in the first half, THREE and 7 for the game! Sims had a great game and bailed us out a bit, but we are going to have to get some movement on a regular basis. Standing around and Iso'ing 1 on 1 is not a game plan on offense. Good defense and free throw shooting down the stretch bailed us out today.

Absolutely...This isn't the badketball we grew up with, and I trust the coaching staff to know better than the board gurus what puts us in the best chance to win games.
LOL how many winning coaches in the country employ the stand around and watch 1 guy offense? I'm curious

The board gurus here provided positives and criticisms. There’s nothing wrong with that. The team gutted out a win against a good Campbell team, but there are still remaining concerns and some of those are major concerns. There is a lot to cleanup and fix, headed into conference play.

I was very happy to see at least some good ball movement today, and we have to infuse more of that into the offense to be successful. Campbell absolutely went cold shooting, and stopped driving into the paint and drawing fouls. That’s how they came back in the first half and how they extended their lead for much of the 2nd half. We made some good defensive adjustments, but Campbell lost that game just as much as we won it. Regardless, we got the win and it continues to give the guys confidence.

Thoughts on what the team should work on?
