RE: Austin Opting Out
Does Austin have much chance to be drafted? I would think not but maybe. If he's getting his info that he will be drafted, I suppose it's worth his sitting out for a nothing bowl like Hawaii. On the other hand if it were me, I might like a free trip to Hawaii. Now if he decides to come back next season, then as a fan I'm not liking that decision - and as a coach I might not allow it.

If he sits the bowl game because of risk of injury----how is playing the senior bowl any different ---is injury in the senior bowl prohibited ? Just asking ?

I suppose it is OK for him to risk injury in the senior bowl ---but not a scheduled TIGER game---or any of the TIGER games in the past for that matter

You are the snowflake pitching a fit about the kid but have no problem with coaches doing it.
You see I see the player and the coach as the same...So if I aint mad at the coach for leaving I shouldn't be mad at the player.
No coach or player worship...I just don't feel I am so entitled to watch him play for Memphis that he should ignore what is best for him...

No, I don't see much difference other than he's hoping the senior bowl is a try-out of sorts to help him at the next level that also involves association with agents, pro coaches etc. His decision is becoming more the norm, unfortunately, but I won't lose sleep over it.

Yes he could and probably will get drafted. He will need a good senior bowl week and a good combine but so does everyone else. It doesn’t hurt that Memphis has three, arguably four starting caliber skill players in the league right now.

I just don't get it...
Coaches have been leaving early for decades to prepare their new team for the next year...Essentially doing what is best for their future.
The head coach who made promises to 80ish kids to get them to work hard and produce for him...But when he gets a chance to cash out and abandon those promises everyone seems ok with it. Everyone knows the only reason Silverfield is still here is these kids didn't produce enough to get him a bigger check.
Now that the players are treating this as a business as well everyone has an issue with it.
I just don't get the double standard.

Quote:The Reese’s Senior Bowl has long been the nation’s most prestigious college all-star game because it is the only one coached by entire staffs from two National Football League clubs.
Hahahahahahahahahaha
I don't care if Halas/Lombardi/Stram/Landry are there -he still risks injury by playing----can't have it both ways
If he is going to risk it by playing in the senior bowl---then he should risk it by playing for his school--that gave him the exposure in the first place--by now all the scouts know his strengths --JMO
AGAIN calling names and insulting EVERYONE---the MODS are watching you ---your time is fast approaching again
Hawaii Bowl = Senior Bowl
Hahahaha
As much as the bowls have cheapened --I would say that the Hawaii Bowl far exceeds the status of the Senior Bowl--for the single reason that the MEMPHIS STATE TIGERS are playing in it
I can't say that I have ever watched the Senior Bowl--but have never missed watching the TIGERS in a bowl
Therefore --Hawaii Bowl >>>>>>Senior Bowl and it's not even close

Yes, the same number of scouts will be watching you at either game. Genius.

Man you just help can't help yourself can you --slur after slur after slur
I wonder how many MEMPHIS/Ala/Mich/Ohio St/LSU/Penn St/ Sou Cal/UCLA/ND etc etc fans will be glued to their sets watching the prestigious Senior Bowl---as opposed to the bowls their teams are in
Do you really think the scouts don't already know the strengths and weaknesses by now of all the players in the Senior Bowl----IMO if you are opting out of your teams bowl then you should opt out of all so-called all star bowls as well --why risk it--they already know you anyway------------and if the truth was known in the NFL teams boardroom --they probably deem a player that would skip their own teams bowl------as a player that is --LESS THAN A TEAM PLAYER
