If Heath can add two or three more pieces in this class to the rebuilding puzzle great. Even better if they are in state. I think we will get a PG in this class. I think Heath can rebuild the program but disagree with others on how fast it will happen.

Within 2 seasons we'll be competing for the MAC championship! That's what great recruiters, and great coaches do! Look at Ohio U two seasons ago, they were picked dead last behind us! Look at Buffalo, and Akron! Heath is going to be A great recruiter! But plays a fun style of basketball!

Let's hope so. But it doesn't count unless they sign on the dotted line.

RE: Unofficial 2022 Men's Basketball Recruiting Thread
Today begins the early singing in men's and women's basketball. Orlando Lovejoy, Robert Davis Jr and Cooper Carson have all made official visits to EMU. Carson's currently adding more D1 offers. No I don't know whether we will sign players in the early signing period. As with football I don't see a large basketball class for 2022 given the numbers of players on the roster AND the need to have some scholies available for one of the best in state classes in 2023.

RE: Unofficial 2022 Men's Basketball Recruiting Thread
The Detroit News has their 2021/2 MI h.s. boys top basketball players. Looks like ZERO MI h.s. seniors will go B1G or equivalent. Never seen this before. Bates is gone. Fletcher Loyer is also gone. And another, Ty Rodgers, left the state.

Lot of MAC-caliber prospects.

And for those TV talking head broadcasters talking about how great MI h.s. hoops is, they are decades behind the world (someone recently told me that the world is 3 months behind me;* well those who are living in the golden age of MI h.s. boys hoop are decades behind the times).

https://www.detroitnews.com/story/sports...882607002/

Someone presented some news. I kidded him, "how can this be news when I predicted it 3 months ago. 03-lmfao He just said the world is 3 months behind me,

My prediction: The 2022 MI h.s. boys seniors will be one of the worst in memory.
The top 3, normally those going B1G, etc., are gone with Bates to college and the other two going to school out of state (a big problem for MI h.s. hoops).

Izzo destroyed Beilein in recruiting the State of Michigan for years, Blue was indeed "little brother" in MBB when he got the "Flintstones" and all the best guys from Detroit and Grand Rapids as well.

Tom also got the cream from Michigan's "best" team in 2018. Unfortunately, that team was not from a traditional power program of the past, Loyer and Kithier came from CLARKSTON instead. Both now are playing at more suitable levels based on their talent.

I can seeing us getting 2-3 players in this class. We need scholies for the 2023 class. I could also seeing us getting JUCO players or transfers instead of high school or prep school players.

EMU men’s bb needs to fill 4-scholarship openings. Most pressing need is to fill Monty and Darion’s departures.Probably look to transfer portal.

Which is a mixed bag as we can see from current MAC standings. Better off getting impact frosh or impact JUCOs to complement this class that fit into Heath's system.

I feel the transfer portal is less risky than a JUCO. If we finish top 4-5 in the MAC (I believe we will), Noah is going to attract a very high level transfer or high impact freshman.

Have we ever had a high impact JUCO at EMU?

Kessington Ward for one. By the way what makes you so certain that Noah will not enter the portal himself? Also suggest you look at the two JUCOs we have offered Grimes and Nelson and see the offers they have besides ours.

I will say this again you want to make sure you have scholies available for 2023 for Michigan high school class which is one of the best in years. Having said that perhaps the best mix is two grad transfers as is in one and done and two JUCOs or two highly rated high school players to make the 4 or 5 openings.

From my perspective, we need at least two transfers with Monty’s capability. Kensington was not a very good shooter. Monty >> Ward

Relationships are critical where kids choose to play ball. Noah has a great relationship with Heath plus he’s got the green light on the floor. Noah will stay if he feels he can win with Heath.

Creighton has run out of time and I’m afraid really good recruits may shy away because no championships or bowl wins in Creighton’s tenure.

RE: Unofficial 2022 Men's Basketball Recruiting Thread
Karrington Ward was a slightly better shooter than Monty and a better athlete, but that’s about it. Monty has way better handles, passing, and ability to attack the basket in the half court. Ward didn’t get any help from Murphy…and he’s another guy I would’ve loved to see play with a coach like Heath.

Brandon Nazione was another impact JUCO. Same with Willie Mangum, Ty Toney, And Yeikson Montero. None of them were stars, but they all showed they were legit D1 players. Don’t forget Bryce McBride either.
