I was on the money with the VT line. I said I was hearing possible underdog and we were favored by 1.5, so not far off at all. You do know how the difference between an underdog and favorite don’t ya, or do you need me to explain it to ya slowly. Geez…and as for Iowa St, I was thinking maybe 7.5-8.5 line and it 11.5, so only off by 3 points. I’m pretty good at this and it’s just pissing you right off. Sorry Stammey

“Only off 3 points” equates to being off by 30%. I don’t have dog in this odd pissing match but I wouldn’t say being off 30% is pretty good….

3 points is nothing in basketball…it’s one possession…one shot….if you get within 3 points of the line give or take, then you’re doing pretty good. Stammey just don’t give credit where credit due. That’s ok though, that’s just Stammey’s way. No hard feelings here and no pissing match to be had.

You want credit for "hearing" what the point spread would be and it didn't look good for us because Vegas doesn't like losing money? You want credit for being 9.5 points off of the actual result, actually 12.5 points off if we go by your one possession stupidity.

As usual Stammey you got it all wrong again. It didn't click with ya again, but that's ok I'll talk slower. I never said my guess at the line was an indication of the final outcome of the game. My guess at the line is only a prediction of the Vegas line released. Our Tiger still have to play the game and cover or not cover the line. I'm pretty awesome at guessing the line +-3. Whatever formula you are talking about, well try not to hurt ya brain on that one. This is God given talent, no formula needed.

You and Timmy are the board laughingstocks this week. Yes, the "educated" morons you were "hearing from" claim Vegas had no confidence in Memphis. You are definitely on something. I sure am upsetted.

Rent free, eh?

#9 in the country, 19-3 in our last 22 games, but Penny sucks, predicting that we lose to everyone and never anything good to say ever, not only this year. You are the one with weirdo stuff happening in your head.

Is “weirdo” a popular word in Canada? You use it a lot.

Never anything good to say? You didn’t read the last game thread. Or my turning a corner thread.

It’s all lost in translation with Stammey. He didn’t get my Line Speculation thread either. It must be a Canada thing.

We should expect to beat non-tourney teams by double digits...

If we are who we think we are. I don't think Iowa State is a tourney team.

Expectations, shmexpectations.
What if we win by 6?
I'll take it and brag about it.

Of course you do...

But we shouldn't be worried about Iowa State...We are much better than them.

Can they beat us...Heck anything can happen...Not the end of the world.

RE: Line Speculation - Memphis vs Iowa St
Actually, Al Gore projected a near end of the world in 2009. He gave us until 2016 to see a big part of the world under water due to the melting of the Polar Ice Cap. In a Dec. 14, 2009, speech at the Copenhagen Climate Conference, Gore suggested the possibility of the Arctic losing some or all of its ice in the summer months within five to seven years, citing researchers associated with the Naval Postgraduate School.

"Some of the models suggest to Dr. (Wieslav) Maslowski that there is a 75% chance that the entire north polar ice cap, during some of the summer months, could be completely ice-free within the next five to seven years."

A win is a win. Absolutely. However, if we do win, even a very close game, and play careless, reckless, uninspiring basketball, it is and/or would be perplexing. It would absolutely bring in criticism, which would be deserved. To say it wouldn’t be would be naive, at best.

But let’s just play the games and hope for the best.

Teams don't usually really begin to jell until around Christmas. Our guys are still learning to play together.

This^^^

The rub for me, at least, is Penny’s got to let the guys play together for extended minutes to figure each other out. Sub as needed but not just for the helluvit.

I see him subbing more in the first half to see who might be on but tightening the rotation in the second half.

They got bored with peaceful. Southern hospitality is a myth.

F-yeah. Makes him look like he's worried about losing someone. I understand the problem. Are you going to tell Minott he's going to sit on the bench?

It's like we've got too much talent maybe.

Of course

But if we win narrowly many will find careless and reckless basketball even if it doesn’t really exist

EVERY college team in EVERY game has careless and reckless moments

Nothing naive except those who think many fans won’t be overly hyper critical even when not deserved
