26 turnovers. My man should be embarrassed. I don't care what the situation was. 26 turnovers is sad. And it's not a new problem.
I expect us to struggle to beat good teams. So does Vegas, apparently.
Link on Va Tech as the favorite?

That's not a line.
That's their BPI algorithm - and the BPI is hot garbage this early in the year.
Much like many of our posters, the BPI still has too much preseason bias to be reliable.

He's not playing PG at USC - because he's not a PG.
So if he was here, he would likely be inconsistent trying to play PG - like he always was - because, well, he's not a PG.
Or he would be riding the bench behind Bates and LQ.
Or, maybe, if he's still here Emoni decides to go elsewhere.

It was only a couple of weeks ago that Timberlake was a turnover headcase of little use. His last two outings were significantly improved and gave us a look at his true potential.
Yeah I hope he ends up being really good, but to this point he’s been wildly inconsistent. Hopefully he has turned the corner. If he can get to the hoop and finish consistently, he can be a major asset.

Penny has the leash removed. He is begging Earl to just play. Early prognostications of NBA drafts and his injury has gotten into Earl's head.

Low key am highly nervous about this one. Va Tech does a lot of things that have historically been the Achilles heel for our teams under Penny

That's not dynamite.
That's a snap-and-pop.
All lines now have Memphis -1.5 to Memphis -3.0.
Here's your dynamite.
https://www.oddsshark.com/ncaab/odds
https://www.vegasinsider.com/college-bas...las-vegas/
Even ESPN, regardless of what their BPI says, shows Memphis as the true favorite.
http://www.espn.com/mens-college-basketball/lines
We are 15-3 since the players figured it out. Our 3 losses all one possession games, all on the road, one on a miracle shot, and two versus a final four team away from home.
I'm going to have to go with Tim and the guy that was hearing voices about the point spread. I'm going to stop drinking the blue kool-aid for a minute and say what everyone is thinking. Penny sucks.

The kid has played 11 games and has been injured the entire time, and still is. He still can't shoot. Neither Timberlake, nor some of our crazy fans have any patience.

So Timberlake has proven to you that he is a competent ball handler and wont turn it over if pressed?

This shouldn't be a close game based on Talent.
Keep turnovers down...And move the ball on offense and we should win this one going away.

I desperately hope this year will be different and it will all finally click, like it did for Cal when he got the Laurinburg Prep group. But after watching us play WKU at home, I have this pit in my stomach that tells me we are still the same old AAU team that we've been during the Penny coaching era.
Look, we all watch the games. We've heard multiple color commentators, including Dick Vitale, make comments like "They dribble with no purpose" and "Their offense is nothing more than taking turns". We've seen games where they turn the ball over 25 + times, many of the turnovers being ridiculous and unforced. We've seen 12-13 man rotations with guys like Jaden playing too many minutes. We know that we still don't have an elite, true PG that is proven and can take care of the ball and facilitate.
I hope this season is different. I really do. I'm just not convinced it will be.
We'll see. But if you put a gun to my head and said pick the game tonight, I'm leaning Va Tech.

While I do see what you are talking about ..
We were a much improved team on offense late last year. Seems we have forgot that last year our effectiveness revolved around playing through Williams.

They didn’t learn to play defense the way they do in AAU.

Nobody is putting a gun to your head. It makes you happy to always be as miserable as possible, even if it means pulling out quotes from when we were a bad team last year, and jumping on the bandwagon when a posters says he is hearing things about a non existent point spread.
Before we figured it out last year, we were scoring 71 points per game. This year we are scoring 86 points per game. The turnovers are atrocious, but we are also turning over our opponents like crazy, and we have a lot more firepower and a lot more depth.

That's fair. The defense is really, really good. That's been the saving grace in many instances. It's the offense that is tough to watch.

You are the type that gets riled up and upset when someone is critical of the team. Otherwise, you would have only responded with the bolded portion.

I'm not riled up, I'm laughing at you. You are using the weirdo concept of line speculation as some kind of proof that Penny sucks. You are allowed being weird.
We are 18-3 with three one possession losses including two against Final Four Houston. You (of course) are focused on quotes from when we weren't a good team and uniquely focused on turnovers, ignoring anything and everything that is good.
Keeping it real...real miserable. As usual.
