I wonder if the higher ups have approached NDSU about doing a game in Harrisonburg in 2022 or 2023. Seems like a win-win... no more home-and-home argument with them, good matchup that our fan base would enjoy, counts as an FBS win for them if they win, doesn't count as a loss if they lose, potentially a modest pay day for them as the biggest downside to us...

We'll probably retain Weber State and Norfolk State next year at this point so 2023 is probably the more likely opening.

Unfortunately the attraction for us to play them diminishes big time with the move up, especially in transition years when we'll need all the wins we can get to build momentum. Would have been nice for them to travel here for this playoffs for a one time for an in person meeting in the Burg, but I guess it is just not in cards, unless something crazy happens making Fargo a no go for hosting the game.

^Agree. I have no interest in scheduling them in future years.

One of those more to lose, and less to gain......

Bring in FBS OOCs and perhaps a local FCS.

it would be more of a draw to get NDSU in town if we needed to fill 11 or 12 games next year but if we get the Sunbelt to get us 8 games right away of course we don't need to fill a dozen saturdays next year.

It's time to take on the UVA scheduling philosophy and find 3 local FCS that almost never beat you... well at least one of them never does.

Then when challenged, we have our ready made "we have a long history with these programs" excuse ready to go to deflect from the fact that we're trying to dodge quality programs that we know will beat us half the time.

W&M or RU?

Who would be the preferred FCS to play?

Since the point is to schedule wins, lets keep it going with morehead state, norfolk state and.... morgan state. We have an established history with them at this point.

I'm not sure we'll pay enough for them to come to JMU. $350,000-$500,000 is their usual buy game.

RE: JMU Transition to Sunbelt/FBS/CAA AQs
I'd love to see the occasional NDSU game in Harrisonburg. A fun throwback of an FCS game against a quality team with confidence that we don't have to be afraid of them instead of a snoozefest... But of course that's the overly confident and overly competitive way to schedule instead of the smart way so I don't see it actually happening.

I hope the full Sun Belt 2022 schedule ends up being possible, but if not I'd love to see NDSU at Bridgeforth as part of our FBS/FCS mix. They already have three OOC games for 2022 including an FBS(Arizona) though so seems unlikely. Their first opening is in 2025.

I'd think a local game to a G5 would be way less

What does ODU pay their cross town rivals Hampton and Norfolk state? I doubt they pay them anything near that.

We paid Hampton $190,000. For our guarantee game at South Carolina we getting paid $1.5mil.

VMI.
I marched at the last game we lost to them, in '88.

RE: JMU Transition to Sunbelt/FBS/CAA AQs
With the rumor being that JMU will play a sunbelt schedule in non-football sports next year, what sports do we think JMU will have a good shot at winning the sunbelt championship in next year?

I think:
1. Volleyball (JMU had a great year this year and is returning the C@@ player of the year)
2. Softball (this year will be a re-tooling year, but I believe LaPorte has something special in this program
3. Men’s basketball (barring a mass exodus via the transfer portal, this team would compete for a sun belt title this year, Byington has shown he knows what it takes to be at the top of the sun belt)
4. Women’s basketball (previous years this would be my number one answer, I don’t hav as much confidence in them but they’re still good)
5. Men’s soccer (it sounds like it’s going to be a good soccer conference, but JMU has been very good the past couple seasons. Tough to get past Marshall though)

I’m ignorant to some of the other Olympic sports. I’m not even confident which Olympic sports sun belt carries. If they have women’s lacrosse we’d dominate there.

No more CAA schools ever unless they move conferences. They don't deserve it. Even if we are desperate for a team, I'd rather bring in Morehead State than give the CAA another penny. To allow them to play us after everything they've done would be justification that they will just do it again.
We have taken the high road through this, but when it's over I say lets go down petty highway and never look back.

What about Richmond? They're not CAA all sports? Plus we can continue to pound them, and Hyper and Dirty's spatterchatter hate can continue. If I were betting I'd say we'll see Richmond on a rotating basis with UVA, Tech, and maybe ODU.

Do you think JMU will be playing ODU next year or is their schedule already set and stoned?
