White was exponentially great with a great offensive line, and exponentially not great with a not great offensive line. The new quarterback will almost for sure not be as accurate, but all 3 are much better runners and will also be able to buy more time in the pocket.
I suppose we’ll see. We won 8 games last year with no running game… riding the back of a senior QB who could check us into the right offense and complete passes even when defenses dropped 8 & managed to pressure the QB. Our oline was dreadful… so it’s asking a lot of the new group and a new QB to maintain. I hope I’m wrong, but I’m just trying to be realistic & 6-6 seems fair.

Well we are tied for 7th with Navy and hoping we go 6-6. Guess Athlon wasn’t so dumb after all

You act like we are Alabama and we won numerous national championships. We have been successful for a few years. What was your expectations at the start of the year? We had a unknown at QB.... no breakaway speed at rb.. OL was trouble last year due to graduation which meant Norvell didn't have horses recruited to fill In.

I believe the consensus around the program was 8 wins. 10 was considered max'ed out, and 6 was considered the floor. We have to win our last game to get to the floor.

We won with a bad offensive line, a quarterback with zero mobility, lost 3,800 of receiving yardage, and lost a lot of great players. We went 8-3 during what turned out to be a rebuilding year.

Well, we’ve already got 1 & I’d like to think we could beat NMSU, Mercer & USM, so that would put us at 4… and crap, we only have 5 with our AAC schedule.

tpaw, this loser-mentality was tough to shake. Helping us to shake it was Fuente's greatest accomplishment at this program. Let's not bring it back, only to support some martyr-fan-syndrome. We all remember hard times, doesn't mean we want to relive them.

If the #8 field goal kicker recruit in the country does a decent job, we are at least 7-4, with Tulane left. That has nothing to do with play calling or all the other talent, or coaching. We are below average at running back, and average at receiver. Being done in by possibly the worst kicking situation in the NCAA is downright cruel.

In hindsight, keeping Riley Patterson around for his COVID year sounds like it was something that should have been considered.

Show me a link of where you said this preseason your expectations were 6-6.
I bet you can't because no Tiger fan came into this season with expectations of 6-6 even if this one place predicted it.

RE: Athlon predicts Tiger football to finish 7th
This season hasn't all been bad luck...Bunch of close games that a few plays would have won.
There are some deficiencies that aren't luck based....
Poor line play...
Slow defense (Recruiting)...I don't think the issue is the coordinator...I think he knows if he plays man we will get roasted.
Lack of speed at Running Back...After Thomas seemed to shut it down.
If the above issues aren't there the above games wouldn't have been close...But since those games are so close next season could be a 180...Or it can continue downhill. You gotta give Ryan a chance to see what happens. Hopefully we can keep transfers down to non-contributors.

I didn’t make any predictions on here. Every year since 1977 since I have attended games I thought we go undefeated but know deep down we would lose a few. The magazines, sports writers predicted us between 6-8 wins.
