Good team. Lots of Seniors and Juniors. Good shooters (3s and FTs),
low TOs and high assists. Start 3 guard lineup but height is there.
Haven't played anyone good yet, so ....
Picked 4th in ACC ps.

That's all I got 07-coffee3

RE: VaTech game discussion
Looks like they have been playing 10+ guys a game so far against the lesser teams. Like us, sure that will tighten up to 7-8. The starters get a lot of minutes. Below are the 8 guys playing 10 of more mins a game so far.

22.5 Keve Aluma 6'9" F 14ppg, 4.3rpg, 1bpg
30.5 Nehiem Alleyne 6'4" G 10.3ppg, 3.8rpg, 3apg
25.8 Justyn Mutts 6'7" F 10.3ppg, 6.8rpg, 2.8apg, 1.5spg
29.0 Storm Murphy 6'0" G 10ppg, 2.8rpg, 2.3apg
31.3 Hunter Cattoor 6'3" G 8.3ppg, 5.3rpg, 2.8apg, 1spg
16.8 Darious Maddox 6'5" G 7.5ppg, 2.3rpg
17.0 David N'Guessan 6'9" F 7.5ppg, 3.8rpg
10.3 John Ojaiko 6'10" C 5.3ppg, 3.5rpg

I have no idea how athletic they are and haven't seen them play.

At least 3: Alleyne, Cattoor and Ojiako.

Keve Aluma is there best player, strong inside presence at 6' 9" 235 that can hit the three. This will be a good matchup for Duren.

Nobody avg more than 3 assists and doesn’t look like they have a shot blocker.

If we play 11 guys in the first 8 minutes it is going to be very hard to beat VA Tech

I agree ... And Earl could start. They have a good PG but Lester could guard him some. If Lomax plays ... his job will be to stop a guard and they have 3 good ones. Williams will draw their star forward. And Duran and Bates will need to score and dish ... Our ace in the hole will be Nolley. He needs to show up big against his old team. Minnott, Hardaway and Dog will be in a few ... That's 10. We'll adjust to 7 or 8 in the second half ... probably. 07-coffee3

Keve Aluma

0-8 from 3 so far for the year but 35% last year averaged only about 2 3's a game.

They have a Wofford transfer, Storm Murphy who played for Wofford last year that is a really good shooter.

Va Tech plays at one of the slowest tempos in College Basketball. We play at one of the fastest. Usually slow pace wins out. Need to figure out ways to speed it up.

From a VT Board (most only talk about football):

Quote:My son is a vt grad and goes to Memphis law school...

He’s also a big time sports freak who keeps.
He reports from Memphis that their fan base is very concerned about their upcoming game with us.
We are tough and talented and they know it and are afraid.

Talent usually wins out. If it’s used properly. Play the best 5 the most minutes and we win by double digits.

What if we play 11 in the first 10 minutes?

What if we play 11 in the first 10 minutes?

Don’t need to play 11 ever. Family time with Jayden and Alo should be spent at home and not on the court.

Nolley
Minot

i've watched the "summaries" from a couple games, read the preseason forecasts, etc. VaTech is a solid division one team, they should make the tourney and win a game or two. i don't see any NBA types on the roster, but they are solid.

IF we play under control, we have the better "talent" and should win the game. Experience can overcome talent, but our lineup is experienced as well ( with the exception of perhaps our two best players ), Nolley, Williams, Lomax and Q have been through the wars and shouldn't get rattled. on a neutral court we will be favored, i'm guessing by 5-6... and a win would be a job well done.

IF we turn the ball over 20 times we likely lose.
