We've led all the way but can't seem to pull away by any more than 3 so far.

RICE wins set 1, 25-19. Solid play, nothing too flashy. Made the most of capitalizing from Clt's unforced errors.

Would like us to come out a little stronger in the next set. This might work for us today and tomorrow, but Sunday will be a different story.

1st set stats:

Hitting %: Rice .310 / Charlotte .194

Total errors: Rice - 6 / Charlotte - 12

Lennon: 9 kills with 2 errors on 13 total attacks. .538 hitting %.

14-15 in the second. Not looking to great.

When tied at 13, Charlotte's next point included a save from beyond the endline. Two consecutive blocks makes the score 14-17. Rice calls timeout.

21-21. Charlotte has upped the intensity. Rice has fought from the back foot, but fought nonetheless. Let's close the set strong!

Twice down by 4 (14-18 & 15-19), Rice evens the score at 21 ... the last three points on 2 kills by Lennon and another by Maruska.

This is why we should have scheduled a game last week.

Charlotte gets two quick points on Owl errors: a poor set left Maruska with no attack option & Lennon's attack from the back row sailed long.

This should have been an easy sweep...

Owls got to 24-24 ... but lost the next two points on a Charlotte kill to the back boundary and then lost the set some error at the net that I couldn't tell. Hope a volleyball expert can explain what the violation was.
