Some may believe that Cole doesn't have what it takes to play in the NFL. I beg to differ. Cole is EXACTLY what the NFL is looking for! His profile could not be better for the NFL. From his physical attributes to his stats, he is very similar to Joe Flacco. I have made this comparison before on this board.
Like Flacco, Cole is tall, lanky, and has poor posture. He also has a very strong arm, is tall enough to see over defenses, can hit a speeding receiver 50 yards away in stride, and takes very good care of the ball. His TD to INT ratio is extremely good. And, as a bonus, Cole is much more mobile than Flacco. As stated, "Cole is EXACTLY what the NFL is looking for!"
The one knock on Cole is his short span as the starting quarterback. Covid goofed things up early. Lucky for Cole he got this extra season and he is making the most of it.
If I am a pro scout, I am watching Cole very closely. He has the tools to be a starter in the right situation, just like his predecessor. I am actually amazed he is not getting more attention, and I'm not the only one....
"Most underrated player:
Cole Johnson Quarterback James Madison: His 17 TD’s to 1 interception is impressive. Cole has smooth touch. Cole is well accomplished but still isn’t getting the recognition in big time media. He is careful with the ball and a solid to good anticipation skills. But has a good enough arm to throw to the outside."
Aside from the article's poor grammar, I believe it is spot on. Cole is "underrated."
