Tarleton State really honestly isn't as bad of a pick as I originally thought as they are seriously investing and expanding rapidly, I believe they just approve 18 million something dollars to increase the size of their Stadium to 25k.
It was not WKU’s choice at all

Geez, who ran over your li'l red wagon? I can understand fans in CUSA being upset for being left behind, but that's the way the cookie crumbles. Reminds me of the time several years ago when a few teams gave the Sun Belt the finger and left for "greener pastures" and made a lot of ugly remarks on the way out (WKU being one of the worse). Well, how's that working for you folks now?

That's a complete and utter lie. Most SBC fans will say, and many have said so just recently, that WKU's fans were the least obnoxious in our departure. In fact most of us were very gracious on the SBC board when we left.
Not going to get in a spitting match with you. A lot of you fans feel jilted and are still hot under the collar and completely embarrassed, and that is understandable, but you reap what you sew. I stand on my statement because I remember clearly what was said and so did other SBC fans.
“Dear SB Babies,
Sorry you got your lil feelies hurt 8 years ago—we promise to kiss your boo boo and make it all better.
Sincerely,
WKU fans for some reason”
Feel better?

At the end of the day it’s just business. Every other SBC wanted to jump to C-USA back then so I guess we shouldn’t hold that against you guys. Excited for the H&H with WKU!

I don't think it was wku's choice and not really MT's choice either given what reportedly the MAC was demanding. I think the MAC is so stable that they really didn't want any change/addition to their membership so their GOR demand if reported correctly, was meant to be discouraging to any but the most desperate.
I am no fan of any of Middle Tennessee's leadership, but they stumbled, probably, into the wiser decision here, and in the interim, may have saved wku from making a terrible mistake. And to top it off, wku's AD gets to shift the 'blame' for not getting a MAC invite on their own merits to Middle Tennessee.
You're welcome.

It’s the same with La Tech. It’s mostly a few bad posters on message boards that make Tech look bad but everyone that plays Tech says that the fans treat them great. Yes even South Alabama and ULL. It doesn’t help when one school goes out of their way to destroy another one.

WKU’s culture is closer to the SBC than others.
Wonder how this plays out if WKU had remaining in the SBC? Who would have been next into CUSA?

MT and WKU have incredibly similar culture, the biggest difference might be their past hoops glory, which doesn't exactly align with the Sun Belt, so...
Hell, apart from their no ******* way view of the conference, I'd say La Tech is a perfect cultural fit for the Sun Belt.

At that time, ArkSt and ULL were both clamoring hard to get into CUSA so my guess, and at that time...my belief...was that one of those two was going to get that invite.

Doesn’t exactly align with CUSA’s either…
MTSU is a mess, complete makeover is needed. Good luck resurrecting it.

There's no hope under the current leadership, but the potential is there. We had 28k for a Sun Belt game on a Tuesday night and sold out Murphy Center(11k+) for at least one MBB SBC game.
But until changes are made, success will be marginal and interest will continue to decline.
McPhee and Massaro have to retire eventually... right?

These ill feelings should not be held against WKU nearly a decade later. Hopefully-- it is just a few FANatics and not the various school leaderships.

At this point, sharing a conference with Louisiana and ULM sounds really good right now. Especially since we know that McNeese State has been angling for the FBS for a while now.

Hey, as long as my school is in a FBS league, I couldn't care less who's in it. I'm grateful to be in C-USA; I'm not in a position to complain about who might join at this point.
Louisiana Tech, on the other hand, has a demonstrated history of being against being in a league with ULL and ULM. Now, ULL and ULM might be returning the favor. Who knows?

If reports are to be believed, La Tech was one of the big reasons the talks of CUSA/SBC merger or mutually beneficial realignment/partnership talks never went anywhere.
I think La Tech would hold their nose for Louisiana, not that I think they need to, a not small percentage of Tech fans would sooner shutter their program than share a conference with ULM. Which in partial fairness, of the existing or inbound FBS programs within the footprint(s) of AAC/CUSA/SBC, ULM would be my second to last choice in preferred conference mates.
