He didn't return to the game after this fake field goal attempt (in which he took a big hit - that certainly looked late to me). I guess Boz was just trying to equal Jack Fox in the throwing department from the other week.

Hopefully he's not too hurt.

Concussion protocol....and, yes, it was a late hit that could have been avoided. I was shocked that they didn't throw a flag. If it was an actual QB making the throw I guarantee there would have been a flag throw for roughing the QB. I guess there is no "roughing the kicker trying to pass" penalty.

Bryce Callahan also suffered a bad injury toward the end of the Denver game. Taken immediately to the locker room.

Boz didn't miss any time and had a strong game last night with three field goals (2 50-plus yards), including the game-winning 40 yarder with 26 seconds to go. He also recovered a fumble. Only negative was his first missed XP of the season. But he's 5 for 5 on the year on 50-plus yard tries, which leads the NFL.

Every time there's a good dame by Boz I like to sneak over to the Steelers subreddit. Those guys love him over there - it's fun to see.

As much as they love him, he could have been a LEGEND had he pulled off the Rabona for them as he did against UH, even if they didn't recover. I don't remember the specifics but they had a regular onside kick that was flagged for defensive offsides or something so they had a second shot. He couldn't have set it up better. His attempt rather embarrassingly failed and became a lowlight film... but had it worked, it would have been LEGENDARY. I hope he gets another shot to do that.

The silly thing is that he was in camp with the Texans the same time as Randy Bullock, who they drafted. So the Texans did the normal Texans thing and kept Randy while Boz has been very solid for the Steelers ever since. Randy has wandered all over and is on his 7th team...

The Texans are possibly the worst run org in the NFL at the moment.

Fat Randy was awful.

I believe that the Detroit Lions would like a word.

Their last NFL Championship was in 1957, and they've never been to the Super Bowl.

I don't often agree with Lad, but I think his statement is accurate. In fact I'd argue the Texans are worse than the Lions. At least the Lions were smart enough not to win a meaningless game this year, not that either team knows what to do with, or will get right, a number 1 pick.

The Lions take the cake historically, but look at what the Texans have done recently regarding their key players.

They traded away one of the top WRs in the league for a washed up RB, all because of perceived character issues. Then, when serious character issues came up with their star QB, they've found no way to immediately move on from him. They also let the face of the franchise walk away.

And that doesn't get to the rather abysmal performance in recent drafts.

Definitely a race to the bottom between these two orgs.

Boz might be one of the more underappreciated kickers in the NFL. I never hear him get mentioned much among the best, but he's quietly the 3rd most accurate kicker in NFL history (yeah, I know, the top 7 are all currently active). He's also 12/13 on FG of 50+ over the last 5 years. And all this playing at a place that is notoriously difficult to kick in.

If I had to have a 50+ yard FG to save my season, the only kicker I'd take ahead of Boz is Justin Tucker.

I think he is already statistically the best kicker in Steelers franchise history.

Another Houston team (Oilers) gave up on another placekicker who had an excellent career with the Steelers - Roy Gerela.

RE: Boz injury
Steelers with a huge win over Baltimore today. Boz shanked an extra point (that was all him, not a bad snap or tipped or anything), but he was 2-2 in FGs, including another 53-yarder (which I think makes him 6 for 6 over 50 yards this year?). The missed XP could have been huge, but Pittsburgh converted on a 2-point try late in the game to stretch the lead to 7.

Baltimore scored a touchdown on the ensuing drive, and went for 2 (and the win) in a gutsy call. But they didn't get it.

Tucker then pulled off a pretty nifty Rabona on the onside kick try, but Pittsburgh fielded it cleanly and got the win.

Jack Fox with another perfect fake punt throw today. He's now 2-2 this year, which ties him with Jakobi Myers of New England for the best throwing percentage in the NFL this season (I'm putting the 2 of 2's ahead of the numerous 1 of 1's). His QB rating places him about 5th or 6th in the league (ahead of Aaron Rogers). Of course, that's a rather meaningless stat if you don't have a minimum number of attempts, as Brian Hoyer currently leads the NFL with a 158.3 QBR.
