Quite a few interesting scores out there, but I'll start off this thread by noting #9 Wake Forest falls from the ranks of the undefeated by falling to in-state rival North Carolina 58-55.

The good news for the Demon Deacons is that it was a non-conference battle.

I’m at the Rutgers game right now and the Badgers are taking it to the Scarlet Knights, 45-3.

SHI stadium has an atmosphere similar to Rice Stadium with more spray tans and worse sight lines.

Better bathrooms though!

Aggies vs Auburn - 6-3 Aggies in the 4Q. Aggies starting QB goes down and they are playing a walk-on freshman now. Yikes.

Check that - Calzada back in, but dragging his left side.

No problem. Calzada is right handed.

I know the ACC is a basketball conference, but, 58-55?

Defense? We don’t need no stinkin’ defense!

Wake's 2nd highest scoring game of the year. They beat Army on the road, 70-56. They obviously have a solid offense, but their defense certainly isn't top-10 worthy.

Purdue beats Michigan State 40-29. I was at their stadium two weeks ago when they got drilled by Wisconsin (in the 2nd half). But they also have wins over #2 Iowa (at the time) and #3 Michigan State.

Four undefeated teams left - Georgia, Cincinnati, Oklahoma and UTSA. I wonder if UTSA actually cracks the CFP top 25 this week.

Trenches on the Western Front had better bathrooms.

Houston is down 28-26 at the half to South Florida. I'm pretty sure UH will come back and win this game comfortably but it's worth noting that a USF returner (Brian Battie) has two 100-yard kickoff returns for touchdowns. He's just a sophomore so there is a chance we may face him in a couple of years. Yikes.

Teasips 7, Iowa State 30

I'm still not a believer that Sark is the right guy for them.

This is the 2nd season that this has happened to North Carolina. I can only surmise that some opponents on both teams' schedules dropped out.

On the telecast, the announcers said WF & UNC had been placed in different ACC divisions. So when they are not scheduled as a cross-over game, they play it as non-conference to keep the rivalry going.

Cal loses to Arizona 10-3 without 24 players (and 5 coaches) out due to Covid protocols. Arizona breaks the nation's longest losing streak (20 games).

Perhaps it wasn't a great idea in hindsight for alum Aaron Rodgers to give the Cal team a midweek pep talk?

(and no, he didn't do that - just the joke going around the Bay Area)

wow-that's about as dysfunctional as it can be. Well, that's college sports in the age we are in.

I attended the CU and Oregon St game in Boulder. Posted throughout the stadium were reminders that masks were required. Yet I don’t recall seeing one mask, even with security. Which I found interesting because Boulder is pretty militant when it comes to masks. Try to do that in town and someone would definitely let you know your transgression.

Hiring Sark was the hardest move for me to understand in the off-season. All I can figure is some big money guy rubbed Mensa the wrong way, and Mensa can be a bit prickly and told him to f-k off, so the guy went to Chris and told him to fire Mensa and hire Sark. Chris got caught between a rock and a hard place, and he is a guy who tends to follow the money.

Saban pisses off big money folks all the time, in fact I think he kind of enjoys it, and they keep writing checks because he wins big. Mensa didn't won big enough to get away with it.

I think Tuscaloosa and Austin may be two of the hardest places to coach, because the heavy hitter alumni are so meddlesome. Bryant dealt with it up front when he went to Bama. Fred Sington and Jimmy Hinton and some of the other heavy hitter alumni who had bought him out of his aTm contract held a big welcome breakfast. Each of the donors got up in turn, handed Bryant a check, and talked about what they wanted to see Bama football become. Finally Bryant got up and said, "Gentlemen, thank you for your generosity. I can assure you that we will put it to good use. But let me be clear--I don't give a f-k what any of you think we need to do." They knew he was in charge from then on, and they accepted it. Austin is maybe tougher because most of the heavy hitters played there and were outstanding players, mostly under Royal.

I figure when patience with Sark starts to run thin, there will start to be stories about his getting drunk on 6th Street.
