Marshall is up next….
Is there any remote shot they’d consider the MAC on a revised deal? Just floating ideas…

If Southern Miss says yes does that break the dam and Marshall, ODU, JMU follow right behind them or could CUSA somehow convince them to stay and add JMU, Liberty?

I fill like it's a gimme at this point for USM
Will Marshall, ODU and JMU set up shop in CUSA East with Liberty WKU and MTSU or Sun Belt East with Appalachian, Coastal and the Georgias

Still a good possibility Marshall and ODU stay put. Can they force UTEP to go football only and take Liberty/JMU (or whomever is left after SBC adds 12?).
If Marshall rebuffs, the Sun Belt can add FIU as 12 and call it a day. Could lead to the Epic Mid Atlantic G5.

Adding FIU is just as bad as adding UTEP. That's not the move.

I'm curious who the backup #12 is.
It needs to be someone attractive to App. Who would that be? EKU?

Would C-USA be able to make FIU football only, and the Panthers join the Atlantic Sun?

Liberty has the option, otherwise Jacksonville state? Fla makes sense.
The Northeast Conference has too many hurdles though so most likely remaining Conf USA settle on the SBC or MAC if Marshall and Co. can’t iron things out together.

I’d imagine you just extend to WKU if everyone else rebuffs.

If Marshall, JMU, ODU, Liberty, and MTSU are staying in CUSA why would WKU leave?
WKU just doesn't want to get left behind, they don't seem to have a strong desire to be Sun Bel like USM

Like with UTEP, if something could be worked out to that extent why not.

No.....Marshall is not going back to the Mac. The majority of Marshall's Alumni outside of West Virginia is in Virginia, The Carolinas, Georgia, etc. That's where we want to be. Its also where we recruit.

Fair enough, but I don’t think Marshall can keep this together. Sun Belt will contact another from those ranks to threaten Marshall.

CUSA needs 8 full members. An outlier located near Miami is a feature. An outlier located in El Paso is a bug.

Yeah...and they are going to continue waiting out there for a loooooong time. I've not heard Chattanooga mentioned anywhere for any reason.

FIU is certainly more tolerable as a full member than UTEP. But if they aren't need for numbers it could be a win win
