Updated NCAA finance numbers
Not all schools report (private) and we don't know if everything here is "apples to apples", but here they are anyways for viewing.

Edit..... You are correct, not every school reports their figures. So this is just an idea not an equal comp.

RE: Updated NCAA finance numbers
Am I reading this correctly,

2 CUSA schools with over 75% institutional support, none over 80%.

6 Sunbelt schools with over 75% institutional support, 4 over 80%.

What happened to all of that ESPN and CFP money that is coming in?

9 CUSA have 0ver 65% and 7 SBC (2 of those don't have football). You also picked 80% arbitrarily because FIU is at 79%. There is basically no difference financially in either conference, it's just a matter of what you do with it and we ALL have more than we had ten years ago by a lot despite the continued myth that the elite schools are trying to split and starve us out.

Interesting. Are schools supposed to spend more money than they make?

If we’re getting technical, private schools do report they just aren’t beholden to state and federal information requests that USA Today uses to pull this information

While UNT didn't cut salaries for staff and coaches, they did implement departmental savings in the wake of COVID. These savings might explain the lack of growth in our budget from the last reporting cycle. We will see what happens now that we are returning back to full capacity and enjoy our highest enrollment numbers ever.

Maybe we should stop buying Nikes. What is Oregon doing with all that cash slushing about?

Nike is doing pretty good. My friend works as a senior Architect for the marketing and sales and they are pushing 15% bonuses on top of 10% yearly increments at least for some departments. They might be churning gold over there.

This only accounts for the spring season of 2020, FYI. 2020 fall/winter sports will be included in next years figures.

A 774% increase in donations. Seems legit.

UL-Lafayette lost another $6 Million last year to go with the $5 Million they lost the year before. I don't think spending more than you make all the time is good for the long-term, but someone on the realignment forum tried to tell me expenditures matters more than revenue.

And if UL-Lafayette doesn't use student fees to finance their athletic department as so many of them railed me over for, then where is that allocation coming from that is over 61% of last year's less than $40 Million budget?

A Cajun sympathizer tried to decry the point that James Madison subsidized their budget off of student fees at near 80%, which agrees with the USA Today data here, but that same value for UL-Lafayette is over 60%, but they don't use student fees?

So what am I missing or not understanding?

From what I saw, it said 2019/2020, so I assumed it accounted for the academic year including Fall of 2019.

At the very bottom after you scroll past the list of schools it says:

Quote:The information below applied to the data obtained for the 2019-20 fiscal year: See the methodology behind this data.

Anybody else notice that Central MI rev was $65M. The next closest in the MAC are Miami (OH) and Buffalo at ~$38M. Wonder if that is the norm or if the year reported had a one off anomaly (gotta believe this is case here).

Last year was 35M. You can click on the school and it shows past years.

Something is off about their numbers. They added 30 mil in school funds this year, but not to expenses.

https://sports.usatoday.com/ncaa/finances/169248

You figure it was some sort of construction or facility fund that is a one time deal. Otherwise why would the school fund athletic revenues to the tune of 55 mil when their expenses are in the 30's.

Yes, the new $32-million Chippewa Champions Center built on the north end of the stadium.

That makes sense. Thanks for clarifying.

Chippewa Champions Center? So $32MM for an empty building? Seems steep.
