Once Deandre settled in and got a few games under his belt the offense got much better.

Add in Emoni who also seems capable of getting his own shot and this offense should be very good...Brown or Not.

Houston had one of the highest rated defenses last year and we had good offensive games against them.

Remember some on here last year saying PENNY couldn't even install an offense --even though he has been in BB his entire life --and been around great coaches his entire life --they implied PENNY was too dumb to have grasped how to install an offense -though he had been in BB since he could walk

You really need a different Schtick...

Because you know that was not the what was said.

Just trolling.

Couldn't install an OFFENSE is EXACTLY what some said last season

That is where you are trolling. And they said he was learning...Gaining experience.

I guess you think Larry Brown knew all he knows about basketball and how to teach the game when he was 30. According to you experience has no value.

But continue to troll.

Continue to TROLL ? Why so hostel ?

If PENNY has/had been in BB since he could walk---around the greatest coaches/players in history ----for people to say that he didn't KNOW HOW to install an offense----what other implication can be drawn---it was a slight to a man that had been in BB his entire life

I guess you are right.

I person who has been walking this earth his entire life and doesn't believe experience has any value then I guess that has its implications towards you as well.

So you are either trolling OR ...

Trying to give you the benefit of the doubt here.

Well thank you LOL

Penny is 50---he probably started play BB at age 5ish----that means for 45 years he has been playing BB and for 45 years being around the greatest coaches/players in the history of BB

45 years --how much experience --how many years does one need to learn how to install an offense

NOBODY KNOWS the game better than PENNY-----LAST YEAR NOBODY KNEW THE GAME BETTER---10 years from now NOBODY will know the game better

JMO---that and 3-8$ nowadays will get you a cup of coffee

Knowing how to do something and knowing how to teach it, are two separate things.

LOL I think PENNY can handle it LOL--I think he knows how to teach the game of BB as good as ANYONE .....not that I agree with anything the BB announcers/commentators say----but almost every telecast they say "BB is a simple game--not hard--not rocket science--only so much to learn" etc etc -------most or a lot of them are ex-players--ex-coaches

A lot more to it, at this level, than just teaching the game and schemes.

Managing egos/personalities is probably the biggest thing. And, in year 1, when you "want all the smoke" and now rolling up in a pimped out Batmobile, I still have questions about how he handles himself, much less the roster full of dudes that all think they are sure-fire NBA hall of famers.

We'll see. This year will tell a LOT. Hope I'm wrong and we're still playing the first of April. But, I'm not yet convinced.

I 100% agree with you on all of the above----but I thought last year when people were saying he couldn't install an offense that they were wrong ---and I still contend that

It came down to Penny vs. Sampson. Penny will have to prove himself. Sampson is already proven.

Larry Brown doesn't count? I don't see how we have them 4 players to 1, and the AAC coaches think Sampson will make that much difference.

Penny has proven he is an elite defensive coach
Penny has proven he is an abysmal offensive coach
Both of those statements are true.

If you read the CBS coaches stories on what coaches think of what teams will win and what coaches are the best etc - Penny is not listed net Juwann of Michigan is - I believe its because Penny has not shown he can put a team on the floor that can run any type of offense outside of the last end of last season. He changes that and the entire perception changes.

Penny is a good offense away from being a complete Elite coach. He is Elite in: Branding and Marketing, Recruiting (that the lord for NIL - prior to that with those who left and what we had coming in was above average - NIL changed that), Defensively. Offensively as bad as it gets.

Poised for a breakout season if Larry can help on the offensive side of the ball and we avoid any or limited injuries.

I don't think Penny is a terrible offensive coach...I just don't think he is flexible. He needs a certain type of player.

Houston had one of the highest rated defenses last year and we had good offensive games against them.

Just wanted to mention Penny changed the offense after Deandre came in. I posted this link in a thread I made awhile back. In the video Deandre and Penny talk a little about the offense before and after the change.
