RE: Breaking News: Regionalization is AAC's Plan
there's already a thread about this...

and the author of this "fan" article cant read...his "fan" article says its Aresco's idea..

the actual article he is referencing says its delanys idea (old big 10 commish) as c-usa consultant.. and it clearly notes the AAC has absolutely no interest

Did you read the new conferences? Hilarious!03-lmfao
SMU and Tulsa to CUSA with a bunch of Texas schools.
Memphis and Tulane in the Sun Belt with UAB, Southern Miss, and others.

The AAC would feature Temple, Navy, USF, ECU, Coastal, App State, Charlotte and others.

Also, the guy who wrote the piece, if you zoom into his profile is wearing a Memphis shirt.

Maybe there are two different reports. The Aresco and the Delany.

Temple University President Jason Wingard seems to be on board with regionalization.

You should probably delete this topic. Saturday Blitz is not an authority on administrative athletic happenings. They are a fan site, and what you just posted is not unknown. There's already a topic about it.

Lol that was hilarious. As we all know, the AAC would never agree to such nonsense and I’d hope Tulane would go independent before playing with those FCS schools again.

I could be wrong but didn’t “FCS” UAB sweep the home-and-home with Tulane?

That plan is the BS that Jim Delany floated to justify his fat consulting fee to C-USA. Obviously C-USA and the Belt would like a regional alliance with the AAC. My question is "Why would the AAC want to do that? In what way does it improve the league?", and the answer is that it doesn't. That idea is a non-starter.

How do you read that and come to the conclusion that's the AAC's plan? If that was your take away you're making an ECU degree look really bad.

It's important to clarify that this interview was published before the CUSA plan was released, and there's no indication that Temple's President was not responding to a question about the CUSA plan, in particular.

It's more likely that he was referring to the addition of schools to replace UC, UCF, and UH - particularly with regard to the wisdom of adding geographically distant schools. His remarks simply suggest that he might be more inclined to support adding schools that aren't very distant, all other things being equal. He does, however, allow for the possibility that the revenue might be great enough to justify adding some distant schools.

As I read it, a much more significant takeaway is that, based on his reasoning, he would probably favor a return to divisional play in the AAC, since that would cut down on travel time for the student athletes, in and of itself.

Parenthetically, it would certainly help Temple, from the perspective of travel time, if the AAC were to add Buffalo and Marshall.
