In its most basic form, drinking the kool aid means to buy in completely to whatever messaging is being promoted. In this case Corso is both buying and promoting the hype/messaging of ESPN as Coastal being a legit contender for a major Bowl.

side note: "drinking the kool-aid", like most of the language in our current American cultural, has a abundance of words or phrases that have been rebranded over time and now have several uses for each. depending on its use and audience could be either negative or positive. "woke" is a popular example of this.

I see what he's saying now, I'd just never heard it used that way. Most of the time I've seen it used is in an instance like a Coastal fan saying, "We're undefeated this year, that means we're going to win the National Championship!" And you look at them like they're the most delusional person on earth and say, "OK, buddy. You just keep drinking the Kool Aid with those teal colored glasses on."
