Free Rocket hoops before the NIU game.
Public is invited to watch the team in an extended scrimmage Saturday morning 9 to 10:30. If you follow the tweets there's a social media marketing ad for it.

Thanks for posting
I'll walk across Bancroft and check out the new team.
I think we'll be good

I'd come in from South or East of campus. All the homecoming stuff should be oriented the other way.

Brief assessment:
Rollins is not huge but looks slightly beefier.
Shumate, Rollins and Dennis looked impressive. Shumate blocked several shots.
Our big frosh is definitely a project. Took several ill-advised shots but made some nice passes out of the post. Redirected some shots, as well. He’ll help in limited minutes. Also the oldest looking fresh I’ve seen in years.
Jacobi looks like a player but needs some strength.
Never saw Arnor on floor or bench? Is he here?
Overall sloppy play but lots of athletes. Players switched teams periodically giving different combos and looks.
There appeared to be some recruits, men and women getting tours.

RE: Free Rocket hoops before the NIU game.
I caught a bit of the scrimmage.
-Milner put on about 10-15 lbs of muscle but it still hasn’t helped his 3 pt shot
-Jacobi and Farmer are going to see significant minutes
-Carconoa should be able to help off the bench
-The Icelandic kid didn’t dress so I’m assuming he’s injured
-Dennis has a nice jumper. Will be a scorer
-Moss May start. Will probably be a defensive specialist.
-Team should be able to go 9-10 deep easily so I’m guessing Kowalcyk will only use 7.

Briefer Assessment: WAY to early to scramble my butt to campus. I was thinking it was 10-11:30, sorry I missed it.

Watched most of the scrimage. Not much to add. Same observations as others. We know we aren't tall, but we easily go 10 deep with ballers.
Milner is going to have a big year. I just love his game.. Came away impressed with Farmer, Kooper and the Romanian kid. I though he played ok and came off ahead of where Booth was when he was a frosh.
Overall, our new recruits look like they can play. We are loaded at the 3-4 with Milner, Moss and Kooper. Or slide Shumate there when Carcoana is in the game. Kooper had a few moves that would have been buckets in HS, but not against bigger, stronger guys in college. He will easily make the college adjustment, reminds me a little bit like Stempin.
Our guards are bigger than normal and I liked the way Hill, Farmer and Dennis moved on the floor. Rollins will be Rollins. My big question mark is Saunders, where does he get his minutes. Does he start?

It would be wild if we scored a TD and went into the half with the lead.

RE: Free Rocket hoops before the NIU game.
on behalf of us fans in far off lands, thank you for the reports. much of it seems to echo existing msg board and staff speculation
- the guards are good and also bigger than usual. there's lots of them.
- there's more depth than usual.
- rollins is getting bigger and better.
- milner is low key great. other than that shaky 3 pt shot, he does everything well.
per the reports on this thread seems like folks are adding
- farmer is making a move for shooting guard minutes
- jacobi is gonna be good, how much this yr is tbd
- moss is a central piece of the team and will provide vocal leadership and defense.
- carcoana is good enough to give us at least spot minutes right away, maybe a bit more.
- the late arriving Icelander, after barely a shiftless yoga pic, may now be missing...
what else did anyone see?
any AJ edu sighting?

Aj was there in shorts and t shirt around the huddle. The Icelander I don't think was there. I tried to match him up from his online mug shot and didn't see him.

RE: Free Rocket hoops before the NIU game.
The new guys are athletic and can defend, however the shooting was not good by anyone.... but it is very earlier. The Romanian big was a pleasant surprise, good hands, aggressive, decent touch close, can run the court, pregame full court drills looked to dunk everything .... Coach K will have to coach like never before because there may not be any pure shooters ... new point guard so far did not look like an upgrade offensively .... Starting for CK 1st team was Shumate, Milner, Rollins, Moss, Dennis.... they played even with gold first 10 min slot before subbing..... Farmer I felt had the better srimmage of the frosh... Romanian and Jacoby next up.... Farmer had only dunk of scrimmage... 1 handed lefty from stand still..... Rollins had one great move to the basket otherwise missed i think all his outside shots 3s included.... the coaches had the guys working hard and the scrimmage was more aggressive, rugged than I have seen, ......more athletes than we have had since? scorers we shall see ....might be a good team to full court press, i wouldn't want to bring the ball up on some of these guys... seemed like good team chem... very organized ....3 officials were mac.... enjoyed it for sure

Milner is refreshing as a Rocket. Always has a smile or fierce competitive look. High energy. Always gives you something even if scoring isnt there.

Lets start basketball now, only if they could if the Rocket footballers start a melt down.
