I have never been in a more beautifully designed football filed. If some one else has a more suitable college stadium, please direct me to it. Baylor stadium cost 266 million and seats 45,000.

Absolutely

I think so. It’s way past time we move out of foster care and strike out on our own.

Absolutely

Quit living in the past.

The future requires bold innovations and new directions.

The past is dead.

It’s sad the majority of Memphis alumni never step foot back on campus after graduation.

What's really sad is the majority of alums never attend the football games or contribute a dime towards the improvement of their university. That's exactly why it took 10 years to build the IPF. It is what it is and it's why we will continue to play in the LB, which I'm fine with if we make some improvements.

I wouldn’t think the majority of most school’s alumni do. There aren’t any stadiums that big. Make it a campus event and perhaps more would attend. Get them back on campus and perhaps more would donate. They’d be able to see what their dollars are paying for. Games at a rented off-campus venue accomplish none of that. It’s nothing more than a detached place to go watch/play the game. Then everyone goes home.

Your keyword is 'perhaps more would attend'. I'm just not buying in that if we try to keep up with the Joneses and spend $250M, suddenly everyone will want to attend Tigers FB games. Keep winning will do more for enthusiasm than an OCS.

“Perhaps more” isn’t the same as “everybody”. Perhaps I should have omitted “Perhaps”.

At the MISTAKE games last week there was a steady stream of people buying tickets at the stadium

Make it a 80K seats not 45k----dang guys make it easier to attend not harder

Don't price out half our fan base by requiring them to buy season tickets

The city has always been a walkup town

So rather than showing a half empty stadium on TV we'll show one that's 2/3rds empty. Sounds reasonable.

Funny how we got all these “fans” that want the city and the university to fork out 300 million while they at the same time complain about a $60 ticket to the Mississippi State game. You can’t have your cake and eat it too.

Yeah, I'm not paying for a new OCS. I'll pay $60 for a game doe. Easy peasy.

I see nothing wrong with this 47,000 seater they just opened in Birmingham for $175 million. The Liberty Bowl may need over $100 mil of renovation to get up to snuff. Then what would we have? We’d still be handing over the keys to the landlord after every game before packing up our gear and hitching a ride back to campus. That’s big time football right there. Great college game day atmosphere. I’m not sure why so few other have caught on.

I didn’t say anything about UAB. It’s an example a stadium recently built for $175.

If rumors on the Simmons naming rights deal are true, there's $40M that coulda/woulda been available.
A real capital donations campaign = $x
City should be good for a few million, since they are paying $350k a year on the LBMS.
State kicks in = $x
University student fees cover bond debt on the rest.

Are you actually talking about the old SEC regional matchups that used to be in LBMS 40 years ago?
A) None of us care.
B) That hasn't happened in decades.

My point was our fans complain about a $60 ticket yet want the U of M and the City to spend millions. Whether it’s 300 or 175 the point remains the same.

Our fans might make $75k a year. How much rev does the city/state/university generate? Plus it's a capital investment vs a 1-time expense. Make it apples to apples, if you're going to compare the two.

A ticket to a college football game should cost more than a ticket to a HS football game, and part of the reason we see these wild fluctuations in attendance is because fans aren’t out much if they don’t show up. A smaller facility, on campus with a better overall atmosphere will require more investment from fans & would generate more consistent support.

Dr. Rudd told me the same at lunch one day.

It changed. He was told by the Oklahoma President
