Warning!!!
Beware!

We have a cancer in this group.

There are those who didn't want Silverfield in the first place but instead wanted the school to go after Freeze.

They have been waiting for the first hiccup so they could plant the seed of discontent.

Do not fall prey to this as it could drag the program down by creating a groundswell of negativity against Silverfield.

Remember one thing.

We were picked to finish 4th or 5th in most preseason evaluations.

After last season we lost what turned out to be the top QB in the program's history.

Even though for the first year he was treated like a red-headed stepchild by some in here.

This was BEFORE we lost what was projected to be our starting QB and other key injuries in camp.

We are relying on untested freshmen in key positions and there will be growing pains.

A lot of the problem right now with the team is mental.

They got a shot of reality last week and this week when the first thing didn't go their way that reality crept back into their head.

All it will take is for this team to get mentally tougher which can only happen with time.

Then when bad things happen they can absorb them better.

Having cancer in these groups who start calling for firings and replacements when things go wrong is not helping.

Enough with the dramatics.

We've lost two games by a total of 6 points and in both, we were inside the ten heading for a score and fumbled the ball.

Another time we were going to be first and goal at the one only to have the play called back by penalty.

We just haven't been getting the breaks this year as we did in previous years.

Potentially if we correct the mistakes we can beat anyone in this conference with the exception of Cincinnati.

With a few breaks and more mental toughness, there is no reason we could not run the table the rest of the way.

Without the breaks and we do not get the mistakes ironed out we could not win another game.

Either way going on here after two close losses and calling for the coach's head does nothing to help the team.

If you're honestly frustrated then I can understand that.

But if you're subconsciously rooting for screw-ups because you want Freeze or another coach.

Then you're a POS and not really a fan.

RE: Warning!!!
Anyone calling for a coaching change at this point is completely foolish, impulsive and irrational. Unfortunately the internet seems to be full of such people. I posted this in another thread:

Without the fumbles we are 5-0. We have a good team and we are truly blessed at the qb position (can you imagine how good this kid is going to be in his 2nd and 3rd year?). I know everyone gets emotional after a couple of losses, but I think this team is going to get better this year and Silverfield is building a strong foundation for years to come. He still has my respect and my confidence. Let cooler heads prevail.

Silverfield stays.....Mike MacIntyre goes.

Too much history of sucking, too many juniors and seniors on the defensive side for excuses, not changing defense schemes or making in-game adjustments.

He got to go!

This is not a knee-jerk decision after 2 losses....this has been a long time coming.

I prefer up-and-comer coordinators. McIntyre has been to the top and is on his way down. I'd rather have someone younger and hungry.

Hard to do too much with a true freshman QB, but our offense has been pretty vanilla the last 2 years as well.

I'll co-sign that. And it's not "after 2 losses". We have seen the same thing all 5 games. Our opponents have scored way too easily. 1st downs against us simply require a one page application on your smartphone.

He ain't wrong.
But the jury is absolutely still out on Silverfield.
We are a couple of breaks away from being 5-0.
We are also a couple of breaks away from being 1-4 or 2-3.
There is plenty to be concerned about.
But you can't fairly judge off a COVID season with opt-outs, and a season starting a true frosh QB after the experienced guy gets hurt. (How is UCF and the Great Gus doing after losing their QB?)

And to complete the Warning...There are plenty of bb-only's who have resented the success of fb the past few years, who are more than happy to troll now, as well.
