I mean Geoff isn’t wrong. Minus the nostalgia it’s a dump. Not Legion Field dumpy. But old and dumpy

It isn't the job of our University to keep that sinking liberty bowl a float. We have got to go separate ways and build our own place. Let the City deal with it. We have got to do our own thing. Dreamers Thinkers Doers Right?

How do we expect to pay for a new stadium? We have fans griping about paying $60 for a ticket. I assume they are waiting for the Kroger give aways

The is probably just a means for the liberty bowl game to shore up the tie in to the Big12.

Congrats Memphis Liberty Bowl. While the Memphis Tigers will be ineligible to play due to conference contracts with the Big 12 and SEC, you will invite a team to play in a bowl game on our "home field", probably a former AAC conference mate, from a conference that rejected us for membership.

In what universe is this considered sane. What a complete kick in the nuts.

Am I the only one that gets this?

Some think we have a T-Boone Pickens just tossing money at the program.

Fred Smith does what he can but he is limited as to what all he can do.

I'm starting to agree with you on this. Maybe just call it Rex Dockery Field.

Simmons' deal with the arena in Arkansas was about $10.5? million.
I dunno how significant that would be for Memphis...as far as Liberty Bowl upgrades and improvements.

Why in the world would Simmons Bank be buying into a naming rights deal without gaining a guarantee that it’s number one tenant is still going to be playing there for the foreseeable future? Unless, maybe they will also sponsor the new stadium once it’s built and the Liberty Bowl is blown up.

If President Rudd wouldn't tie the hands of the new university president by making commitments to the Big 12 that we will build an on campus stadium, do you think he would similarly tie the new presidents hands by committing to the Liberty Bowl for an extended period of time in order to make a naming rights deal more valuable?

I'd imagine that Simmons Bank probably has some sort of out clause, or renegotiation clause, if the number of major events or primary tenants change. I wouldn't be surprised if that sort of clause were standard in naming rights deals.

I think we just learned the city will not be throwing support behind an OCS.

I'd love to be wrong, but that's what this looks like.

Why is hell would anyone think the city would ever throw its support behind an OCS in the first place?

Hey, we have this massive stadium that is losing money every year so let's help our main tenant to leave so we can lose even more money.

Damn people what do you do with that thing on your shoulders?

As far as Simmons, their deal with the arena in North Little Rocks pays $700,000 a year for naming rights.

One would suspect that the deal with Memphis would be significantly higher due to it being a stadium.

The typical stadium deal is around $3 million per year.

I would guess it will be somewhere around $5-$7 mil per year.

Because STAMMERS and his 2 idols said so

Hopefully, one of my idols will fund it so you and your komrade communists will still be able to go to games if prices go up $10.

I dunno how significant that would be for Memphis...as far as Liberty Bowl upgrades and improvements.

Spread over 15 years.

But that is a basketball arena. Average naming rights for football stadiums is around $3 million a year.

Yeah "averages" can be misleading. If we get that much I would think they're gambling on us getting into a situation where will be on national TV more often than we will be in the rebuilt a a c.

Simmons Bank recently bought Memphis-based Triumph Bank. One of the things they said they would do is invest in the community. Seems like a sizable investment.

As a former Triumph shareholder & now one with Simmons, I would have preferred naming rights to an OCS.
