Not that what Thamel says necessarily matters, but:

Credit to Rube Dali on the Realignment board for breaking it there.

I just saw this. It sucks if true but we can make ourselves just as strong (or stronger) on the field of play by adding UAB, App, Louisiana, Marshall, Coastal and FAU.

I was really excited about AFA. Damn it!

If Thamel is right, I am pretty happy. I have preferred adding schools in the east, and if CSU and AFA are out, there really isn't anything left except the east, unless we want to dredge the IMO bottom of the Texas barrel with UNT/UTSA types, which I don't want to do either, LOL.

Yea .. at this point Wichita needs to look for a landing spot. There are no good football and Basketball adds in the east.

Wichita, SMU, Gonzaga, and Tulsa to the Mountain West just became a real possibility.

Where are you going that would acutally take you in that's a clear step up? Memphis, SMU, Temple and presumptively UAB are better than the A10 and the Big East is probably unrealistic.

Watch ESPN shove Charlotte and ODU down our throats… they are not ESPN properties, after all.

No offense meant to either program but Charlotte in particular has no fan support and a high school stadium. ODU just shut down football for an entire year.

We could also go after Rice! They have great academics, a great market… and no support.

We’re F’d.

With the adds that are in the East and the potential of Memphis leaving .. I'd say the order of BASKETBALL conferences that have any possibiilty that are better

1. Big East (very unlikely, but the Creighton link is there)
2. A10 - Realistic and better overall of whats left plus a Olympic only conference
3. MWC - With those teams staying WSU would be a fit for them as a bb only add

I hate to say it but MVC just added Belmont and Murray state .. it could reasonably be better on the court than the AAC after Memphis leaves.

I can see Gonzaga moving now that BYU is gone. If those other three got invites you know they would have to think about it.

On the baskeball side .. Considering Memphis is possibly gone .. It's pretty clear cut that league would be better than the AAC.

Tulsa will be going out west most likely if AAC can't pull some schools.

Aresco needs to be fired. He is going to wind up getting beaten by Thompson.

Tulsa does not bring anything to the table.

I am sure that the MWC Board of Directors will push for Gonzaga again. If Gonzaga comes, I would think SMU and Memphis would be a real possibility.

Frankly, if I were ECU and Tulane, I would be on the phone with the Sun Belt. They would be a perfect fit for all parties.

I don't think Memphis moves. Like Boise they're waiting on a big 12 invite in 2024 - 25.
