If what I've heard about Charlie Cobb is true, he can go back to App State or wherever he came from. What the literal F.
He can schedule current SBC members that he likes in OOC. His reasonings for being put off by the AAC is insane.
was absolutely wondering, where is this UTSA talk coming from out of the blue? Makes sense Aresco emphasizing several times "only the schools that wants to be here"

1. Cobb sucks.
2. LOL
3. Cobb is ALWAYS looking to better a program and himself.
4. Cobb probably didn't see an AAC invite coming and is now protecting egos of himself and the school.
5. Cobb sucks.
Edit:
6: Cobb sucks.
7: LOL.

This sounds like Georgia State may not be be willing or even able to increase the athletics budget to what it would need to be to compete in the AAC. Charlie may consider standing pat as the smart move financially than join a league that may be not much different than CUSA 3.0.

No matter the lip stick Ga state can't disassociate itself from it's location in the south much less Georgia and the hodgepodge make up of the university. The prestige of conference affiliation will not change that. Atlanta is significant and has amazing potential for eyeballs but having to associate with a conglomerate of local commuter schools attached to a pretty distinguished red eye professional advancement university is sketchy. I'd be concerned to. Your going to have to win and then hope that brings the fandom needed to continue the epic meteoric rise to prominence. No reason it couldn't happen but will it be enough to get Atlanta's motors running? Stayin put in the Sun Belt is likely the best medicine for a host of reasons.

As an outsider, I wouldn't look at this as a bad thing for GSU. Honestly, if I was making the choice for UAB between CUSA, the AAC, and the Belt and money wasn't a factor, I'd rather be in the Belt.

He already s*** in our bed up here in Boone when he gave our program the Rian Johnson treatment. You can keep him down in Atlanta or send him somewhere else.
And frankly for the first few years we were in the Sun Belt, the one game I looked forward to the most was the GaSt game just to stick it to him for all the issues he caused us.

I kinda feel bad for the posters over there. 7 years worth of Ben Moore telling you that the AAC call is coming any day now just to find out you were never even being considered? That’s gotta sting.

I remember when GSU fans were excited to get Coob despite App fans trying to warn them. Y'all had to learn the hard way just like us.

It's a horrible thing for GSU considering the AAC will still be the best positioned G5 after this is done. Sorry guys, there's more at stake here than just football. If I was a donor i'd be wanting to know why we didn't even attempt it.

Yeah, it is a little baffling. I'm happy in the Belt, but when push comes to shove, it's still hard to imagine a single AD in CUSA or the SBC not taking a shot at the AAC if the chance is there. I know there are plenty of folks doubting the future success of the American. Maybe they'll turn out to be right, and Cobb will look like some misunderstood genius.
Hope you folks still like Atlanta!

Meh, the AAC will be lucrative to the newer teams, but only in the short term. A few sucky deals and that contract will dry up and all the teams will be complaining like CUSA currently does.
