We will be looking at a SEC Coordinator (according to my source in the local media who should know) at least that will be option 1. It's so early in the season who knows how things will turn out but GS should be able to make a good hire before some of the candidates are plucked up by other schools.

How important is it for Georgia Southern to keep an option-based offense?

Would a different offense ever be considered? Such as a five-wide spread offense? Or a spread-option? Or the flexbone again?

The only SEC OC I see moving this year is K. Briles at Arkansas. But Ga Southern is not a program on his radar. His financial requirements would be well above your level. Plus, he does not run your offense.

If you guys would be open as to the future offense then you would have great options. Start with the OC as SC, Applewhite at USA, Sumlin, Herman, Frost, and Brohm at Purdue will be looking for a job at season end. Of course, there is the Navy HC who will be out of work at the season's end. Art Briles would take your job, his financial requirements are minimal and he'd probably finish his career at your institution. he just wants to clear his name.

1. Our AD is not worried about the offense they run
2. How in the world do you know what his financial requirements are or what is on his radar?

Are you just banging on the keyboard and see what comes out?

After Lunsford, Southern AD will likely be looking for a more authoritarian style HC compared to a young players HC. Someone in the mold of a Greg Schiano.

Players coaches like Summers and Lunsford have not resulted in success. It's time for a change even if it's towards an older statesman.

About as good as UAB will be when Bill Clark leaves.

Here’s my theory for some coaching moves at the end of the season. Manny Diaz will be fired at Miami, possibly before the end of the season, Miami will turn to Hugh Freeze to bring that program back to prominence because let’s face it, Miami doesn’t care about his past. Liberty will then turn to fired/quit Urban Meyer to fill their empty seat. AD’s were surveyed about Urban being hired, P5 schools said no, G5 schools said yes. So Urban straight to USC may be out, but Urban to Liberty would work because Liberty has also shown they don’t care about character when it comes to hiring a football coach.

In that case what's Art Briles up to these days?

Last I saw he was back from where he came, high school. But he’s probably hoping Urban has a heart attack so he can get that Liberty gig.

Gotta add LSU after agreeing to end Coach O at the end of the season.

Also adding Washington St after firing Nick Rolovich and 4 assistants for not getting the COVID vaccine.

It's not. Our AD has already said that offensive style won't be a factor. Doesn't mean that that person isn't an option style coach, but that won't be the reason they're hired. He said that he is looking for a 'CEO', not a specific scheme.

Outside of a few folks, most of our fan base doesn't care what offense we run at this point, we just want to win.

To look at the Flight Line do I have to create a log-in? I've been trying to snoop a bit and noticed that you can't even look at threads anymore without logging in.
