Composite computer rankings as of this morning are below. Norfolk St is currently #85 on the FCS rankings. Really surprised ND is still so high (FSU is #91). UT has a horribly weak schedule with bottom dwellers CSU, UMass, BG, OU and Akron all on the schedule. Can't lose focus though. Gotta keep getting better every week.

Yeah, unless ND/CSU/ and UMASS win out, our strength of schedule may be a detriment later especially if we run the table along with a MAC championship...
Toledo just has to keep improving, stay focused, and hopefully healthy, because this has the makings to be a special season ...

Weve had so few G5 games so far. Temple, Wyoming, USA, Cincy... Hard to guage when youre pummeling FCS squads and getting ran over by P5s. Tennessee, Syracuse, GT type teams can typically help us climb the ladder but we havent been too successful in those yet. NIU, we appreciate it.

As usual, I think the West is very competitive potentially, week in and week out. Toledo gets to play Ball State in the opening conference game. That will be tough. A lot of people discounted NIU before the season. NIU won at Georgia Tech and lost a shootout with Wyoming. I think NIU will be capable of playing up at times. CMU is well coached and could have unexpected days, playing up as well. It looks like Ohio is not playing as well, as they usually do. Maybe there will be surprise team from the East, but the East looks pretty weak.

Kind of crazy, but barring a transfer or injury, there will have been a Rourke brother starting at QB for Ohio for 7 straight years when this current one runs out of eligibility.

right, OU was taking control of that game when they went to the running QB. For whatever reason they go back to Rourke who mostly struggled and has several drives quickly end. OU's d which was starting to take over ends up back on the field too much, gets a little tired and Louisiana regains control. I don't know if OU had the better team but they didn't have the better game coach for sure. And you can't play Solich conservative ball if your defense isn't strong. OU punted on 4th and short. Louisiana went for it and that was central to the difference.

MAC showing better this week, well, except NIU.

Finals:
Michigan 63 NIU 10. Probably shouldn't have been that close.
Coastal 28 Buffalo 25. Close game.

WMU leads Pitt 41-34

So, the good of the MAC:
WMU held on to beat Pitt 44-41
Kent is hanging in with Iowa, 16-7 Iowa in the 3rd.

The bad of the MAC:
Ball State is getting stomped on by Wyoming, 31-0 at the half
Akron is in a struggle with FCS Bryant, tied at 14

And the rest:
Miami 28 FCS Long Island 7
EMU 21 UMass 7
BG 7 Murray St 0

Notre Dame 27 Purdue 13

App St is winning in that situation. We still would have needed to successfully kick the FG. When you are losing, as we were, it's hard not to put points on the board when given a chance.

I can't think of any game situations where someone has taken a knee instead of a TD when they are behind and a TD puts them up.

Good article in the Blade in the last day or two about our kicker, Cluckey. He’s never missed a FG so far. Under this scenario it would have been a chip shot and he’s been consistent. Plausible outcome.

But not under the kind of noise he would have encountered and moreso, that goes for the snapper and the holder. That's where most flubs happen. The line hasn't shown itself to be most reliable under pressure.
