Miles Joiner?
Anyone know what's been going on with Miles Joiner the past few weeks? He didn't play vs Wyoming or Michigan. Vs Wyoming he was suited up in uniform on sideline holding his helmet all game, didn't look to be injured and I didn't see him at all vs Michigan.

Right now, Tewes, who was listed 3rd on the depth chart originally has been getting all the reps as our receiving TE. I was excited about Joiner and the mismatches he would present this year as was the coaching staff I thought based on what they were saying before the season started but its been crickets since the GT game where he scored a TD. We could definitely use him in this offense with this size and speed.

Did he get in trouble? Anyone know?

RE: Miles Joiner?
Great question. I was about to start a thread on this. He must be dealing with a minor injury and coach Ham is playing it close to the vest because if he were healthy he would absolutely be playing. Another theory is that it's a discipline thing? Who knows, but he clearly was our go-to TE week 1 and he's been MIA since.

The Depth Chart for the Maine game lists Joiner as the #1 TE.

EDIT: I didn’t realize that he was listed as the #1 TE for both the Wyoming and Michigan games as well. For some reason I thought the gamesmanship we saw with the depth charts extended beyond just the GT game.

Sounds like it may be a disciplinary issue or perhaps an undisclosed minor “game time decision” type of injury at play.

RE: Miles Joiner?
Hope so. he's definitely a player that can make a huge difference for the offense, especially in MAC play. His combo of size and strength is impressive. Hope to have him back out there soon...

No kidding lol. With their DBs seemingly having zero issues covering our WRs, the TE action could've helped us move the ball a little better and kept the defense off the field more... OH well.

He’s our 3rd down option that we were missing to move the chains. #BeatMaine

RE: Miles Joiner?
anyone have any new info regarding joiner? Saw he was in full uniform again against Maine but don't recall him getting in the game. Very odd to me considering he was the clear TE1 week 1

Hammock was asked about Joiner at the last press conference and his response basically ruled out the disciplinary issue.

When asked he said: “He’s been inactive. We’re trying to get him active. When he’s ready to go, he’ll be playing. But as far as off the field issues, there are none.”

The first time I heard his response I thought maybe it wasn’t an injury issue either, which essentially only left the possibility that Joiner was just not practicing well enough (missing blocking assignments, etc.) to get playing time but then I remembered that he’s been listed as the #1 TE on the Depth Charts.

So, I went back and re-listened to the quote and context, and if I had to guess, I would say that it sounds like it could be a concussion protocol situation. Especially because he’s been spotted dressed on the sideline but no helmet and obviously not getting into the game. If it is an injury situation, you can very likely rule out something major like a broken bone or something. More likely it’s a soft-tissue injury or concussion. I don’t recall anything glaring from the GT game, so I would guess that he may have suffered a concussion during the practice week for the Wyoming game and it’s lingering.

Hope he’s activated and ready to go soon.

Thanks NorthCoast, its good that someone asked Hammock about it. Still doesn't make sense to why he has been dressed in full pads for games if he is inactive though. Not sure I get the logic there. If he's inactive, why would he suit up?

In his EMU postgame remarks Coach Hammock said "we're getting some guys back next week". Maybe Joiner is one of them, we'll see.

Also, it'd be nice to give Lombardi a good high percentage check down/outlet option so he can up his completion percentage and we can stop with the worst QB talk.

The TE group posted a picture on twitter after the game, and he was not in it.

Injured guys don't travel for the most part. Waylee wasn't there either. I think the only one who was was Tucker.

Correct. I wasn't implying anything about why he wasn't in the picture, just that there was evidence that he must not have traveled...
