He really has a tendency to miss wide right. Going back to 2019. Glad they went for it on 4th there.

And I agree, seems likes it Bryant's job now.
Bryant has definitely played better! Has a better arm then Hutchinson, but Hutchinson didn't really get near as many chances these first 3 games!

crazy with the roughing the kicker and two fumbles.

BTW, I like the telecast. Certainly better than Marcus Ray on the ESPN webcasts. These guys are really good with the names, etc. They did their homework.

Yeah Bryant hasn't really done anything that has really wow'd be, but he's been fine. My guess is he most have pulled ahead of Hutchinson during practice, it will be interesting to see what happens in the fourth.

Wow, get a huge break with a roughing the kicker, and then fumble the next play and UMass was in business in Eastern territory but fumbled it back. We have a lot of clean up.

UMass moves down the field with easy, makes it 35-21 with 6:27 left. We're going to win, but not a great performance in my opinion.

Westmoreland might turn out to be a star. I like that big body plus the speed.

RE: GameDay: FB @ UMass
We've won this game! The only negative is we gave up once again 519 yds! The defense got destroyed once again! This is by far the worst team we'll play all year as well! I was hoping possibly for A 8-4 season, but with what I've seen versus three teams, 6 wins is most likely! Hopefully, we improve on defense!

We will win but not happy. They stayed even with us after the first quarter.

RE: GameDay: FB @ UMass
UMass continues to have little trouble moving the ball. This game has been quite a let down, from the defense at least. The offense has done about what I thought they would do, and were a couple missed field goals from putting 48 points.

The defense however is just bad. Giving up over 200 yards on the ground and 300 in the air and 28 points to UMass is not ideal. I have a feeling we will have a hard time stopping Texas State (which is better than UMass I think) and teams in the MAC.

Turan Rush did not travel with the team to UMass. Per Flosports.

Dear Friends,
Did Eastern blitz at all? If, the pass rush isn't working to put pressure on the quarterback, then shouldn't there be a blitz at least some of the time? Even Rubick (Eastern's color man, suggested more pressure is needed) sees defensive weakness.

RE: GameDay: FB @ UMass
Next week when will be the real test. Texas State plays more competent football than UMass to be sure. Hopefully have Turan Rush back next week will help get home for the sack and more consistent pressure.

Nonetheless, it was a dominating road win. We identified some new offensive stars with Hamilton and Westmoreland. Let's get Rush back next week and heal up others who are dinged from Wisconsin. Hopefully we'll improve on both sides of the ball.

Maybe it's the QB thing or starters missing on defense but to me this team seems out of synch. Where's the passion the fire the swagger teams with Roback and Glass had? Remember the Pitt game? That's the confidence the energy that seems to be missing.

Totally agree. With this level of play we will not beat many MAC teams.

RE: GameDay: FB @ UMass
I'm good with the W. SHould have been closer to 45 or 48 points if Ryland makes a field goal or 2 but I' rather him miss in a Win then a miss and it be the reason we lost. He is good enough to get it corrected.

What I liked...
1. Westmoreland seems to be coming in to his own. Kid looks good.
2. Drummond and Beydoun are both still as good as advertised.
3. The Line looked good opening holes and with Pass Pro. Only 1 sack allowed
4. Jawon running the ball looks really good.

What I still have questions about.....
1. We still gave up over 500 yards of offense. Yikes. We have A LOT of work to do on this side of the ball. Part of that could be with Turan out and I am hopeful he is back after learning a lesson.
2. Is the QB battle over? Ben looks good but to me still not blowing this open. I would like to still see Preston in some fashion as he is our QB next year
3. I'm with a few of you guys that I'd like to see some swagger and passion on the offensive side. Still not sure what our identity is and that could be because we still split QB reps, but
4. If we cannot open it up in the air come time for MAC play, we will be in trouble. The MAC has a lot of high scoring offenses that will put us in position to need to score quick.
5. What ever happened to throwing to our T.E.'s? I thought this was a position of strength?

Overall I'm pleased and happy for the program. I cant complain with a Win. On to Texas State which I'm telling you guys, is much better than UMass.

I was thinking the same thing. This one was WAY better than the lazy Marcus Ray garbage we get and the other guys who can never be bothered to correcly say our guys names.

Very concerned about run D (the lack of). Mildly concerned about the ‘tight’ way the O plays—they should be having a little more fun.
