The ESPN programming today lauded his performance and Marcus Spears in fact called him the "best player" on the field. He was that good!

Maxx will never be a great run defender. He is what he is, a pass rusher. Quick as a gazelle is an asset for a pass rusher, but not for run stuffer.

id rather have an End who is good rushing the passer than stuffing the run

I don't know of any current defensive schemes that truly depend on a D end to stuff a rushing attack. Coordinators depend on that position to pressure the QB and set the edge on outside runs, occupy blockers and funnel the runner back inside for the linebackers and safeties to clean up. I'm certain that failure accountability for a 30 yard run will land primarily at the feet of those not playing on the line.

If he continues at this trajectory then YES! But, Charlie Batch was an NFL starting QB, and played for a long time! Jason Jones, TJ Lang, LJ Shelton were also very good! Batch, Lang, and Jones were my top 3! Crosby looks longterm to possibly be the best! I left out Andrew Wylie! Maybe Ken Barna, Jerry Weaver, or Steve, or EMU79 have more insight, or knowledge on this subject matter ?

I would go with TJ who played 10 years in the NFL and add Kevin Walter who played 10 yrs in the NFL so to your list of names. John Banaszak who played 7 seasons and was All Pro. Shelton played 10 years in the NFL. Batch played 13 seasons. Forgot Ron Johnson who was also All Pro who played 7 years. Some interesting folks people may have forgot are Lionel Dalton and Barry Stokes who had decent NFL years. Dave Pureifory had a great career with the Packers for 11 seasons! Jim Pietrzak also played 11 years in the NFL.

Without doing any research there could be say a half dozen (give or take) who have played say 5+ years in the NFL and have been all-pro at least once since EMU has been FBS.

I like Max's s potential he may end up being best of all if he can stay healthy. Ditto Wylie.

Maxx as the best is premature.
He’s a beast, but Jayson Jones put together a really solid career stat and length wise at the same position.
Let’s give Maxx some time and hopefully he’ll be a no brainer for this title in a few years.

I'm a fan of the pro football reference 'AAV' stat. Jason jones had a career AAV of 37. Today - Maxx's is 15.
