The irony there is that health insurance is MANDATORY or you get nailed when you file your taxes.

So you are uninsurable, so you cannot get a job; without a job, you cannot afford COBRA; if you cannot afford COBRA, you will pay more taxes; if you don't have income, there is nothing to file a tax return on......

He's doing pretty well. We chatted a couple of weeks ago on facebook. I think the loss of his daughter really hit him hard. That was the second young child they had lost. It took him a long time to get over that, but I think he is coming out of it now.

I speak from experience this is something you never recover from. You just learn to deal with it every day. And every day has its challenges.

I can't even imagine losing a child.
