The Tiger’s fast-paced offense, as exciting as it was to watch, created a situation that wore out the defense — the Tigers’ defense. Because the offense couldn’t stay on the field long enough, the Tigers’ defense just got wore out. The defensive guys just didn’t have a long enough blow to get rested and recuperated before they had to get back on the field. Memphis defense was on the field for 35 minute to only 25 for the Arkansas State defense. Going fast is exciting, but it wears out your defense. Don’t know how this works moving forward.

So you don't want us to score on the first play of every drive ?----You want the coach on 70 yard runs to tell Austin/Thomas to just stop on the 10 yard line . SMH--------I hope we score on the first play of every drive ---1 play--1 TD-----WE NEVER LOSE

I agree 100 percent. It's who we are. We outscore teams. And we do it to really good teams during our success. Or we can try to be a Rip type defensive team. There is no middle ground here. What we do best is score points and put productive players in the NFL. That's THE most successful era of Memphis football

nah
Just too conservative down the stretch.
Offense looked great with a frosh qb. So fast and relatively few mistakes.
Spec Teams was bad.
D was good in the 1st half, but the Prevent was terrible.

However your take might be one of the worst since Porter.

If the D coordinator continues to rush 3 I’m gonna lose my mind.. I said it last year and I’ll say it this year, we can’t stop the pass so why not blitz often at least the QB has to react a lot quicker and it definitely puts some pressure on them.. I don’t care what anyone says rushing 3 is stupid and it’s obvious it doesn’t do anything but help the other teams QB look for receivers for however long he wants.. geez do something different..sorry for the rant it’s just frustrating to watch..

It was funny to listen to Peter Cordelli get excited when a state did well but was barely audible when Memphis did. So bush league.

Can't argue with him. I guess that's why we kept getting hosed on replays, the cameras just weren't there.
But did MarkG not actually GO TO the game, or was he watching a replay? Hard to imagine he wouldn't make the short trip.

Just keep in mind how many games are televised on a Saturday on ESPN 3. Not just during our time slot, but all day. I am not sure how many, but I would guess anywhere from 30-50 games? That is a lot of commentators.

It was always going to be local guys for games they feel don't matter

Heck we had local guys do our basketball games a few times

This was CFN's prediction going into the game:

It’s going to be fun.

With all the positives and good things happening in the Sun Belt, it’s almost like Arkansas State has been forgotten about. Jones has the pieces in place to make a whole lot of noise, and pulling off a win over the Tigers would be massive.

It’ll be a back-and-forth game with the Arkansas State quarterbacks playing a bit stronger than Henigan, but Memphis will come up with a few more big plays to get out alive.

In a season full of low scoring battles so far, hope for this one to go back-and-forth for a full four quarters.

https://collegefootballnews.com/2021/09/...-preview-2

While not back-and-forth, it was fun, Jones does have the pieces on his roster to make a whole lot of noise right now, and they certainly could have beaten you. Going to be the same next year so get use to it.

Not smack, I expect both are going to be outstanding.

I posted on their message board that "Memphis has more overall talent than ANY SBC team", and that includes them. I am very impressed with your team, and especially your young talent, but like theirs too.

There is a talent gap between you and them, but it can be closed courtesy of the transfer portal.
