I was going to say, a team that shows signs of life against superior competition. Look at App St right now. They're beating Miami at half. Granted Miami is no UGA but I guarantee they would put up a better performance against them.

Helps a lot to consistently play beatable P5 teams and have a long-term pedigree of winning.

Keep in mind as soon as App St reputation kicks in they wont get those so called P-5 winnable games scheduled. I believe we can be very competitive with Miss State, Vandy, Kentucky, and sometimes against South Carolina but those teams know that as well and wont schedule us. So we're left to play world beater for money and they pay for a reason.

When do you think it will kick in? App St. beat #5 Michigan in 2007 and hasn't slowed down since.

Yeah and Michigan hasn't played them since. Giants don't like giant slayers.

Yeah and Michigan hasn't played them since. Giants don't like giant slayers.
But App St has beaten other good P5 programs since that win.

Yes but not the top level ones. If we schedule a 5 game series with Miss State, I'm confident we could get 2 of those games. But schedule a 5 game series with Top level teams then you'll need excellent play to be competitive and then luck just to win one of those.

Well considering Clark lost to Miss. St. in his first season I wouldn't be as confident. But regardless, we're not App St, Boise, Coastal, Memphis. We are UAB and it's way past time that this team starts showing a pulse against P5 teams. Not even a win, just a freaking pulse. I'm tired of the excuses, ifs, and buts.

Mississippi State was ranked No. 1 half that season and had the starting QB of the Dallas Cowboys.

Cincinnati got blown out at Ohio State in 2019, 42-0; afterwards they finished the season 11-3. The other 2 losses were to Memphis - once in the regular season and the other in the AAC Conference Championship.

They were #5 when they played so preseason ranking or not it counts as a win against the Top 5. Are you trying to discredit their win?
Quote:The Wolverines entered the game ranked No. 5 in both major Football Bowl Subdivision (FBS) polls and media outlets considered them to be preseason favorites to win the Big Ten conference championship as well as possible contenders for the national championship, while the Mountaineers were ranked No. 1 in The Sports Network's Football Championship Subdivision (FCS) poll and were preseason favorites to win their third consecutive FCS national championship.

Michigan was not as good as advertised. still a huge win but yes they did not beat a team that was actually top ten. ranked top ten yes actually a top ten team in the country no.

Who cares how Michigan finished the season? Fact is at the time of the victory a FCS program beat the #5 team in the country. Stop trying to minimize the greatness of it.
